I'm making progress, but its the kind of progress that looks like one huge mess.

Had to get a new central heat and air unit - couldn't find parts for my old one. But that's one thing done. Everything is drying out due to the nice weather that moved in. Got fans blowing into the crawl space. Tore out the damaged drywall in three rooms. Re-insulated the walls, and hung new drywall today.
Lost the artwork I made for Christmas presents, and lots of sketchbooks, and notes, but have lots more art inside my head - so no real loss there. I didn't have any furniture downstairs except my table. I live minimalist - just have a bed, table, drawing board, easel, and massage table - and except for the table they were upstairs, so no loss there. Made the clean-up much easier than it would have been otherwise.
Can't complain. At least I'm off this week to get the job done. Will tape and mud the drywall joints tomorrow, put down primer if everything dries fast enough, and be ready to paint on Sunday. At least the floors weren't ruined.
Lauri suggested moving.
What?!? And miss all
this?!?
Crazy girl! What good is homeownership if you don't have to fight off swarms of locusts, pull drunk driver-driven vehicles out of your living room, ward off meteor strikes, and other "acts of God" not covered by your homeowner's insurance? I figure once I've fixed everything, the earth will swallow the whole house.
Then, by Jiminy, I'll move. But not 'til then. I'm going down with the ship! ARRRRHHH!
Thanks for the words of encouragement all! I'm going to bed, if I can find it in the rubble... (my place is looking more and more like the physical embodiment of the Dino-Aspie Ex-Cafe'.
oooooooo ooo. {insert wincing emoticon here}
