(Didn't quite make it to bed. I am full of energy for some strange reason and just realized that Monday is the stat holiday in lieu of Rememberance Day so I get 3 glorious day off!! )

I was diagnosed...september 2006 as asperger.
subsequently, more of a shock to me, dislexia and dyspraxia....fuuuuck

anyway......i don't like being round other people who are autistic, or kinda 'wrong'

is this just me?

am i not coming to terms with my own autism/aspergers ?

this is a genuine question, and not a knock at autism

is this ssomething that everyone, newly diagnosed, goes through?

Hey Mescalero, I think its okay to hang out with this bunch of aspies. I'm NT with major depression, and I would never hang out with that bunch in a support group. Is that something like what you feel when you are mixing with aspies?

Hi Lucy! I'm from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, and I've met Sleepy Dragon and Quatermass. Have you by any chance written a newspaper article on being aspergers? My son in law sent me an article by a NZ woman written earlier this year.

Difficult to say. If you look at the posts from people introducing themselves to WP, they are often glad to find there are others who differ from the mainstream in broadly the same way. But that is a biased sample. The ones who don't want any contact with others on the autistic spectrum would be unlikely to join and post. They might be in the majority. Here, you see mostly those who do like some company, and I have no idea what proportion of the ASD population that is.

Mescalero is the name of one of the Apache tribes. I've seen a short mention that it comes from a reference to mezqal liquor. I don't even know whether the name Mescalero came from the colonists or from the people themselves.

Is that Lord Kitchener in your avatar? I just saw a picture of him, and there is a lot of resemblance, unless I am misled by a coincidence of mustache and uniform.
