The Dino-Aspie Ex-Café (for Those 40+... or feeling creaky)
As Heaven and Earth are not afraid, and never suffer loss or harm,
Even so my spirit, fear not thou.
As Day and Night are not afraid, nor ever suffer loss or harm,
Even so my spirit, fear not thou.
As Sun and Moon are not afraid, nor ever suffer loss or harm,
Even so my spirit, fear not thou.
As Brahmanhood and Princely Power fear not, nor suffer loss, or harm,
Even so, my spirit, fear not thou.
As Truth and Falsehood have no fear, nor ever suffer loss or harm,
Even so, my spirit, fear not thou.
As What Hath Been and What Shall Be fear not, nor suffer loss or harm,
Even so, my spirit, fear not thou.
hymns of the Atharva Veda
That's quite lovely, Hartz. Thanks.

Well, I hope so, too. This "impending doom" thing that's been going on for two weeks - I'd much rather chalk it up to a leftover from the last one than a warning about the next.
The kid kind of hyperventilated when she heard they're to be back. It's really late in the year, they don't usually blow this late. We thought they were done until next year. She had finally put all her beloved imported music posters and stuff back in the frames and back up on her walls. She was in my bedroom talking at me until very late last night, just rambling on. Stress does that to her. Fortunately, she's got work every day next week (Monday - Wednesday) so she'll be kept busy and away from the TV/Radio, but will be just a few minutes away.
Maybe it's paranoia, but I'm still making sure the mechanic comes and fixes the alternator belt, and, hopefully, the bearing problem with the engine this weekend. And if not and we have to go, the animals will be stashed in the kid's car if those things haven't been fixed before then, so that if my car craps out all we lose is the stuff in it, nothing living. I've also been meaning to put all my genealogical records onto a digital format, as some of them are rather old and it appears that I've got the only existing copies of some of the ancestors' military records since the fire in St. Louis in the 70s took out the rest. Perhaps I'll also get a good scanner with an autofeeder while we're over at Office Depot on Friday (we need other supplies there) if there's a good sale. I can then put the contents of two rather large tupperware plastic tubs onto a flash drive that will fit in my pocket. Free up a lot of space in the car, that would.
Hmmm. Probably should not have any more coffee today, either. I'm already getting squirrely and it's just now 8:00am. I oughta be just a jolly piece of work by the end of this weekend, if the weather reports hold.
Apologies in advance.

Yeah, me, too. And I'm so horrible at remembering faces that even when they show any drawings or photos of the abductor/abductee, I have to drill into my mind immediately what it is that the kid is wearing or what the car looks like or the license plate number, because I won't really be able to identify the kid or the kidnapper if I saw them. That so annoys me!
PS How's your son?

It seems it's time to give the ex-cafe a good cleaning since no one is around. And since there is no one around I'll listen to a tune or two.

I was hanging out with a friend one time at her place. Wild Irish gal, good lookin, hell of a temper and a big time white wine drinker. So we're just doing some small talk and I mentioned how the Byrds were a big influence on me, musically. She, in a very off handed remark, said, oh yeah, them. And then proceeded to tell me about living with David Crosby in The Village (Greenwich). Funny stuff and not to flattering about poor ol David. He's probably only alive today, because THEY SPLIT UP. i DIDN'T PUSH FOR MUCH INFORMATION, CEPT A COUPLE LITTLE STORY'S SHE TOLD. This woman's temper is a whole story unto itself. but, i DID ASK IF SHE KNEW dYLAN ( *INSERT blasphemy*). She said, oh yeah, I remember him, and I said yeah? She said, he was dirty. Somehow I don't think she embraced the era the same way I did. But, what the hell, she was there then and I only popped on to that scene many years later.

Oh, yeah! I think I was subconciously blocking out the fact that I have any of those "son" critters.
The kid is "ITCHY". I stayed up until 2AM, just to be sure that his tongue didn't swell or some other god awful thing. He was sleeping, I was worrying. Pretty much par for the course there. We now enter the wonderful world of a person who is allergic to all but one family of antibiotics. And he is extremely susceptible to staph infections on his skin. He can't fight it so one little scrape and we're breaking out the disinfectant. He's also the kid that plays soccer, climbs EVERYTHING, hurts himself on a regular basis, and kisses girls. The germ-laden, risk taker.

Great story, Postie!
That's a beautifully, haunting picture, too!

Yeah someday I'll write out that little day and her David story's. She was dating my best friend at the time and his name was David. I'll bet a buck the other David (Crosby) still remembers her too and I know my friend sure as hell will never forgot her. She did her best to kill him, well not really her best, or he would be dead. She got her point across to a guy that did 2 tours brown water Navy in the Nam. I bet he never had as much fear in him as when she went after him, compared to the 2 tours, lol. Piercing blue eyes she had and you would just never ever guess the temper that could be behind such a gorgeous face. That woman could tell anybody the absolute truth straight to their face, no little white lies, and get away with it every single time. I don't understand how people can do that. Yeah, Renee was something else again.

I had been listening to a lot of the Byrds album's in the way back and this guy named Jimi Hendrix came on the scene. His sound was just so different then most anything I had heard before. I was having a hard time "getting in to it". The Byrds had done a version of "Hey Joe" and Jimi did one on his first album. I started comparing the two together. It was my first real wake up call, that two people could do the same song completely different. A huge eye opener to me, well I guess I knew it before, but, that was just so blatant to my ear. The Byrds were good, to be sure, but after they broke up, Hillman (the bassist) and a couple others stayed together and did some really really great music that isn't as well known.

No apologies necessary! I don't know anyone here who would be chipper and cheery when faced with the possibility that they could be caught in a living nightmare, again. I suppose if anyone takes offense to you being "a jolly piece of work" they could just go post elsewhere.

Not too surprising. David lives up the road, I hear, these days. Wonder if his house burnt.
"Revenge of the Turkeys" sorry if it frightened you but I could't help laughing. Not being a big fan of meat probably attributed to my amusement.
Everytime someone orders Veal I have to hide my face cause all I remember is this old farmer I knew in Kentucky telling me how when they take the calves to turn them into veal the mommy cows wander around for a couple weeks crying out and mooing and looking for their babies. How cruel is that. We eat their babies. I just can't do it. After my daughter died I'd always think of the mommy cows and felt horriable for them. I try to remain impartial when someone orders veal now but its not easy some days.
