The Dino-Aspie Ex-Café (for Those 40+... or feeling creaky)
Everytime someone orders Veal I have to hide my face cause all I remember is this old farmer I knew in Kentucky telling me how when they take the calves to turn them into veal the mommy cows wander around for a couple weeks crying out and mooing and looking for their babies. How cruel is that. We eat their babies. I just can't do it. After my daughter died I'd always think of the mommy cows and felt horriable for them. I try to remain impartial when someone orders veal now but its not easy some days.
I can't do veal, either.
I had another dream after Turkey Rambo. I was lobbing cans of cranberry jelly at T.R. from behind the couch and they were exploding - was the only thing that I had in the house that was going to stop it. But I was running out of cranberry jelly and T.R. was between me and the pantry.... the cat woke me up that time - wanted it's water dish refilled.
I can hardly wait for tonight's installment.

I don't normally recommend getting loaded to anyone, but how's your Zinfandel stock? You really
need to have one night of dreamless sleep.

But I'm ready for the little bastard. I'm going to insert into the dream, if it happens, that I've bought a battery-powered carving knife and wave it and rev it at him if he shows his ugly little non-existant head ...
I think that restaurant down the road does a nice dinner on Thanksgiving. I wonder what they're charging?
Umm, ...ahem... well, isn't that ...uh... kinda ...well... the definition of a male?
Yeah! And to think I promoted that....... maleness!

Wicked awesome photo from SwampBlossom. Thanks for putting it up, Postie.
Meat: I know at least two women who are physically unable to tolerate red meat unless it's ground up, as for sausages or hamburger mince. One of them is a full-on vegan who wouldn't even touch honey for years. The other has two teenage boys and cooks meat for them. Sometimes she can't resist having a nibble of the lamb roast, but she suffers for it afterward.

Interesting, at least it wasn't "Psot", "The Church of This, That, and The Other Thing", or some other such spam.
I made my 3000th post from my new Linux partition, I finally got Ubuntu to run on this machine in dual boot mode.
I still have to learn all of its bells and whistles and if you know of a fast method of transferring almost 1000 bookmarks from
one partition to the other I would truly be happy.
Export them from Windows, import them to Linux.
Actually, if you're still using IE, stop. Switch to Firefox (or Seamonkey) under Windows. It will import the IE bookmarks (and all your email, in the case of Seamonkey, or do Thunderbird as well, to go with Firefox). Then export bookmarks, switch to Linux and import (to the same program).
I use Seamonkey, partly because I can keep all my email in one place (in a "FAT" partition), whether I'm in Windows (I've not been there for at least a couple of months) and Linux. I'm not certain that you can do that so easily with Thunderbird. The export/import uses a simple HTML file, which is rather nice. In fact, you'll find a "bookmarks.html" file in your profile directory, anyway. I'm not sure if "export" does anything but copy that file.
OK I'm going to give it a go.....
I've never burned a CD or DVD rom before and I cant find my Windows XP for Dummies book.....
So I'll have to use my SD drive instead I hope Linux recognizes it....
By the way I've been using FireFox almost from the time I first bought this computer back in May...
On my older Dell laptop I used IE for a while and I had all kinds of problems with malware, crapware, ads & etc ......
My current version of Ad-Blocker in my Windows partition works very well....
But this new version that's out has all kinds of problems.....I can't block ads both static and the moving type that
run with Adobe Flash. I checked the options pull-down menu to see if the 'Enable' was checked it was but it is still not working.
While I was in the Mozilla site I read a review and a couple of complaints about Ad-Blocker not working.
I'll see if I can find some other ad-blocker or a fix for this new version.

We have a freeze watch for North Central Florida. Guess I'll have to break out the electric blanket, and hope that my cat doesn't put her claws through it. I put that gorgeous picture on my desktop, Postie! I love wintry pictures. Even if it gets cold here, it's never like that scene in the picture.

You know what I love best about insulation? The prickly irritants it leaves in my fingers are much less bothersome than the ones it leaves on my backside. [Although I do not remember installing the insulation with my backside, which must have assisting without my knowledge - which proves that (unlike Lau), I do have a subconscious. Or I'm on unthinking autopilot quite a lot of the time. Or my backside is.]
Anyhoo, I do not know what possessed me to do it, but I advise that no one else ever do this on insulation:

There's something quite satisfactory about undertaking a construction job and having it turn out right. At least, I would imagine, because none of mine ever have. However, after many 'stops' and 'gos', and 're-dos', and 'tear-downs', and 're-measures', and 'hissy-fits', and 'drunken carnage and sobbing' I have by some miracle finally succeeded in hanging one picture.
I'll stop while I am ahead.
Hello to all!

ooh! drunken carnage AND sobbing! Count me in!

it's as if the picture is from only a hundred meters from here,
exactly same wheather here, a tiny little bit of snow
Doing a little cross posting here..
Lemon, you had a picture up of what your area looks lie, kind of looking down on a small town from a hill. Our hills are a bit higher is all, but not that much that if I just saw your picture on the net, I could easily say it was very near here. That's the kind of town I live in as well.
Yeah, she does take some good photos, SwampBlossom, she has some others I've never put up that are really good. We stopped to get some shots (photo type) of wild turkeys (not the drink kind either), but the sun was reflecting off the females backs and only the Tom was looking good in the photo. Of course that's true of all male vs female things, isn't it?
She really is ready for a better camera, maybe someday. She has a good eye and she still has some basics to work on. She still isn't as good at it as I am. She would argue that, but maybe not. One of mine looked remarkably like one that made the cover of Life Magazine some many years back. I would have done a lot more with the camera back then, but I had a beer habit to support and film wasn't cheap, especially when I didn't develop it either. That's' when you get to get the mistakes out too. So much nicer now, but I swear I still like the older style cameras better. The digital for the same types of settings I had on my older really good one, cost a small fortune now. Hell just the len's would set you back plenty. I still have my old field camera, but it is more for doing field photos in the Archaeology recording, you could run over that thing with a truck and it would still work just fine. If I were to do a photo project now, it would be to take pictures of farm silos, the old kind. They're almost all gone and around here, no two ever made a like.
But thanks all, she'll be very pleased to know it is being used as a screen. She does not have the ego for this hobby yet, but I'm working on her. Need to be careful with constructive criticism. I kind of grew up in that sort of thing. One of many of my Aspie Dad's little obsessions and... what he was into, you couldn't be in the same house and not hear him talk about it and be so happy if you showed an interest in his and I did. He had to make up his mind to go pro with it or give up his day job, the small photo business was taking up so much of his free time. He opted to do his day job, which gave him winters off to do whatever the hell he wanted. Smart man, in more ways then one. I'm no dunce, but I pale in comparison to what his thinking power was.

Dr. Lecter: [shouts] No! [normal voice] I will listen now. After your father's murder, you were orphaned. You were ten years old. You went to live with cousins on a sheep and horse ranch in Montana. And...?
Clarice: [tears begin forming in her eyes] And one morning, I just ran away.
Dr. Lecter: Not "just", Clarice. What set you off? You started at what time?
Clarice: Early, still dark.
Dr. Lecter: Then something woke you, didn't it? Was it a dream? What was it?
Clarice: I heard a strange noise.
Dr. Lecter: What was it?
Clarice: It was... screaming. Some kind of screaming, like a child's voice.
Dr. Lecter: What did you do?
Clarice: I went downstairs, outside. I crept up into the barn. I was so scared to look inside, but I had to.
Dr. Lecter: And what did you see, Clarice? What did you see?
Clarice: Lambs. And they were screaming.
Dr. Lecter: They were slaughtering the spring lambs?
Clarice: And they were screaming.
Dr. Lecter: And you ran away?
Clarice: No. First I tried to free them. I... I opened the gate to their pen, but they wouldn't run. They just stood there, confused. They wouldn't run.
Dr. Lecter: But you could and you did, didn't you?
Clarice: Yes. I took one lamb, and I ran away as fast as I could.
Dr. Lecter: Where were you going, Clarice?
Clarice: I don't know. I didn't have any food, any water and it was very cold, very cold. I thought, I thought if I could save just one, but... he was so heavy. So heavy. I didn't get more than a few miles when the sheriff's car picked me up. The rancher was so angry he sent me to live at the Lutheran orphanage in Bozeman. I never saw the ranch again.
Dr. Lecter: What became of your lamb, Clarice?
Clarice: They killed him.
Dr. Lecter: You still wake up sometimes, don't you? You wake up in the dark and hear the screaming of the lambs.
Clarice: Yes.
Dr. Lecter: And you think if you save poor Catherine, you could make them stop, don't you? You think if Catherine lives, you won't wake up in the dark ever again to that awful screaming of the lambs.
Clarice: I don't know. I don't know.
Dr. Lecter: Thank you, Clarice. Thank you
Clarice knew the silence of the lambs

It becomes a lot easier to eat veal after you've had a six-hundred-pound calf who thinks he's a dog stand on your foot and push you into the electric fence.
We raised Baby from the bottle.
He was delicious. ![]()
