Do you have a recipe for the yams baked in the fruit juices?

I can frozen orange/pineapple juice
3 or 4 red garnet or Jewel varitey yams ( dark red or bright orange)

wash yams and soak in water for 5 minutes
quarter yams
put in Ziploc 'Steam in Bags' (I can't say enough good things about these!)
microwave for 10 to 14 minutes
9
(or bake in oven until a knife goes right through)
turn out into serving bowl
pour melted juice concentrate over the yams, serve with a big spoon ladeling the juice over the yams. (shiver, it's that good!)

I sometimes pour the orange/pineapple concentrate over the turkey breast for the last 20 minutes of roasting. It glazes the brown skin and is heavenly in the gravy!

Could have shot a big ol Tom Turkey the other day. I might feel better if I had shot that big old bird. Bet I could have gotten a couple of the hens at the same time too, before they got away. I'm going to eat homemade apple and pumpkin pie all day. I don't think turkey tastes as good as pie.

It's nice to see the turkeys make such a wonderful come back here. Disease had wiped them out here, a while ago and they were about all gone when I was younger. Now it's very common to see flocks in the mowed corn fields. Say what you like about hunters, but it's because of some dedicated hunters, back packing feed into the very deep woods to get a thriving few flocks going again, that they are back at all. I do like watching them. The turkey's that is. Hell, there for a good long while I was about the only turkey in the area it seemed like. I'm still bigger then the wild ones, I'm just not as wild anymore. But there was a time........

Nothing wrong with a little strutting now and then. It's good for the self-esteem.

I have an uncle who reminds me of a rooster, especially when he's angry or determined. Just a short man, but boy..... can he strut. He started out sweeping floors in a restaurant at 15, dirt poor as he was his entire childhood. At 65 he has controlling interest in 7 restaurants in that chain, is the founder's right hand man, and is a self-made millionaire. Did he earn his right to strut? No, he had the strut to start with, he just uses it well.

Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler are strutters. Oh, and Rod Stewart. Donald Trump would be if he wasn't afraid of his comb over falling down. :P

...Been runnin' 'round like a crazy man this morning doing projects before my sister and I head out to my dad's for Thanksgiving. Wanted to let you guys know I'm thankful for having met allof you this year, and for your friendship, and for the privilege of reading all your fine words and thoughts. Thank you! :D

Lauri - keep giving 2nd son an antihistamine - if you are using Benadryl overlap the doses - 5 hours instead of 6 hours - so that the mast cells and basophils do not have the opportunity to release any histamine. Try to lock those suckers down for at least 72 hours. (If you have 24 hour loratadine switch to it instead and give it every 23 hours).

His short-term memory will be affected while on Benadryl - hope he doesn't have any exams to study for! 8O

Have him drink plenty of fluids. Could have a secondary worsening of symptoms if the bradykinins kick in 48 hours after the initial flare-up. Drinking fluids will help calm things down.

Don't let him take a hot shower - or get hot - it will make everything worse. Apply cool to the worst flared area(s) - but not so cold (or applied so long) that the blood vessels in the area have to open up to warm the tissue (would cause a flare).

Good luck! Take care all!
Will be back in a few days!

Luvs yas!
Chuck

I had a boyfriend who would laugh everytime I wold get mad or "act tough"...he said I reminded him of that little cartoon "chickenhawk" in Forghorn Leghorn cartoons.

I can't remember if I mentioned my new obsession but I thought I would post it again for other interested crafters....

The site is called Etsy.com and it is inexpensive to open a store to sell you own crafts. It has only been a round a few years bt seems to be gaining in popularity and some people do actually make money there(judging by their sales numbers).I have benn researching the heck out of it th past few weeks and it seems like the only "problem" is that their pay-pal link is sometimes confusing and needs to be revised but I think they are working on it.It only costs .20cents to list each item and they take 3.5% profit IF it sells.I think Paypal takes another 3-5% to help with the transaction but I think it is worth it to guarantee payment(instead of taking checks),so I am going to use only PayPal.You can pay extra,$7 to be a featured seller, which gets you a link on their home page(you have to make a "reservation" for this and it is only for 2 hours but does get you "store" seen by more people.

You also get a free "store" with a link you can advertise however you choose(make business cards, buy google adds, mention it on other sites you visit.I am opening my own store soon but think it would also be nice to open a "consortium" for aspie arts.As with the other mentioned project...I would like this to include a 5% sales profit to go to WP to help with the server situation.

I believe aspies are creative as all heck and think we could be a popular site there. It is also an international site,so individuals can decide for themselves if they want to ship world-wide or local(based on tollerance for hassel and shipping rates).Hope you guys find this place as interesting as I have.

reading and lurking and freaking out.
Walked outside to warm up the car to take my daughter to school and was met by the sound of dripping water. All the snow is MELTING, in November...in ALASKA. Its so warm I did't even wear a jacket. The local stations say its 43 degrees. Just really weird. I would be loving it except for the climate change implications it raises.
Intresting site Krex, LOTS of stuff, will have to go back. What are you going to sell if you don't mind my asking. Blessedmom, you should maybe sell some stuff you've knitted there.

 Just came back from the doc. He's taking prednisone, a 9 day course. He learned why he shouldn't get too warm last night when he decided to have a shower after I told him not to.

He's definitely a hurtin' unit today.

Enjoy your visit with your father and Happy Thanksgiving. We're thankful to have met you, too. Well, I am. :D

Mmmmmmmmm....... you'd have to hide the fact that you know me. He loves to give people money to help them out. Unfortunately, that comes with a price for the recipient. He has offered to help me out. I've always said no. He feels I think I'm too good for his money. I think I'd rather not be owned, thankyouverymuch! He DOES NOT like me.

I have looked at the site. It's the only place that I could make the money on my sweaters and afghans to make it worth the effort. I saw a sweater much like the one I just finished. It sold for $150.00. That must have felt good to the person who made it. When Xmas is over I'll look into it further. I heard someone say "Do what you love, the money will follow." I'm going to put that to the test.

One of the girls at work quit. The boss asked me if I would like her hours to add to mine rather than her hiring someone else. She thinks I can make a living designing and creating knitted and crocheted apparel. So with more hours and some money (hopefully) from the patterns, I can quit having all of these little critters in my home everyday. :D :D :D

I also started a blog yesterday to talk about my crazy life and my knitting perseveration. People actually read this stuff. I'll be posting pics of my designs and projects I do from patterns. I can get my designs out that way, as well. Yeah, I'm a little obsessed lately.
