I see the red flags are out for more Santa Anas. I see those warnings now, sensitized to it from your earlier adventures.

Yeah, they are, Merle. They are due in at literally any time now - I'm waiting here in the back bedroom to hear the wind. The competing weathermen are arguing about how bad they'll be or not. They all generally agree they won't be what they were saying as of last week what they were going to be (as in, worse than when we were on fire). Or that, if they are, it will be the poor sots north of us who catch it. It's supposed to be primarily up in Riverside County and LA now. Unless they changed the forecast again. I can't keep track, they keep changing it!
The kid has her friends over, they're watching Harry Potter. I'm into the zinfandel and listening to KLOS - Los Ahn-ja-leeeze - on the radio (sometimes we can get that station, when the atmospherics are right). It's all a bit surreal tonight.

Nan has been a paragon of strength in the Parents' Discussion! And Nan? If you ARE having a lovely time there, so much the better! You have spoken previously about The Kid's medical issues. I'm sure you've also spoken of her education issues. But now I put it all together, and that's one helluva row you've had to hoe. Hats off to you too! 
Day after tomorrow I have my first-ever appointment with a real honest-to-goodness psychiatrist. I'm a bit nervous. I've cobbled together about four pages' worth of autobiographical material to hand to him along with my GP's referral letter. Haven't got a clue what to expect.

Dolly got nuthin on Mae. Dolly is an innocent bystander when it comes to that West woman. Where ya think that statement "go West young man" comes from? Sage advice. I know she's still alive and just as "Mae" as ever, she'll never die and never age. Bet she makes a mean cup of coffee too. Although in her case I'd make her coffee and be her sex puppet. But, that Harlow woman did somethin for me too. Any lady that uses ice cubes to get that erect look to nipples before doing an acting scene is ok in my book. Yes, she has. And I am one of her biggest admirers. She also has far more patience and more debate skills than I will ever have. The reason I don't go to the parents forum is because things never just are the way they are, good or bad. There is always someone there that has to challenge the other's parenting skills. Any sage, sound, proven but not Dr. recommended advice is pushed aside very quickly. I've also noticed that any "brag about your child" or "listen to what my child accomplished" threads quickly sink to be replaced by "poor me/my poor kid" threads.

I can't go to the Parent's Discussion. I am not a parent, I have only had parents. I did go there a few times and frankly they frighten me. I thought they would be interested in talking to an adult Aspie about how it felt to grow up and see it from the kid's eye view. Not interested - it was all me, me, me, how I am inconvenienced, how I have a life no one bargained for, how I have to suffer while little Janie or Johnnie runs the house with meltdowns because they don't like greenbeans arranged on a plate like they serve it.
and I have sad news for those who think Mae West is still extant. She passed in 1980, but of course she is immortal in her own way.
Fires in Malibu. . well, that is good news, for I doubt if our Nan lives in Malibu, eh Nan?
