Nope, I can't afford Malibu (though it's lovely up there). Did stop at their Taco Bell, once. Snazziest Taco Bell ~I've~ ever seen. :wink:

The car guy is supposed to come fix my car (as of a half-hour ago, he's late). I just looked out the window and the sky is a brilliant blue (going to need sunglasses when we go out) and there's not a hint of breeze. It did that last time, too. Dead still early, then, a few hours later it was like an oven door opened, and then the wind machine turned on. They say it's only supposed to be a 24 hour event this time. It feels odd out, but not "real bad" odd. We're about halfway through the time window, so I think we're dodging it this time.

Can't say that for those poor souls up in Malibu, though. Nowhere to go but the sea, once it crosses the main roads.

Should be the last day I have to go to the laundromat, too!

Spoke too soon, maybe. There's a fire out by Ramona (again), but the firefighters are all over it - all kinds of resources being thrown at it.

It's still dead calm here, and the guy is fixing my car. Said it'd be an hour. Then I can feel comfortable that the alternator belt isn't going to snap or the cooling fan bearings aren't going to seize up in an emergency situation (or on the freeway going to work some day!).

The cats are picking up on my paranoia, I think. All of them, including the little blind foster kitten, are following me everywhere. I turn around and try to take a step and I fall over a cat. Go in to use the restroom and there's two sets of cat eyes and four sets of cat ears staring at me. They just helped me brush my teeth.

It's going to be one of those weird kinda days, I think. The kid is still snoring out on the couch - her friends left very late. The Christmas Tree is on. The rat won't come out of his little rat-house for a treat. The birds are in their nests in the middle of the day and don't seem interested n their bird seed. There's the picked-clean remains of a 20 pound turkey on my kitchen cabinet. And the cats aren't at the turkey, they're in with me.

I guess they're going to try to angle for canned tuna...? Something's going on in the universe, and, as usual, I'm clueless.

My cat Shanghai ran into the house and meowed to be lifted up to the top of the closet shelf and then meowed for me to pet his head while up there. Something must have scared him outside, because that is his hidey hole.

John Howard is only the second prime misnister in our short history to lose tha election and his seat at the same time. I had to admire the way he made his speech in which he conceded defeat.

There was a swing to the Greens too, and I think the electorate trusted Labour to handle the environment.
