It's -15C here right now. With a wind chill factor of -22C! We're expecting a high of -20C with a wind chill of -30C to -38C by Sunday.

I had to turn it off...I was having anxiety attack just thinking about driving in that snow.I think the bears are pretty smart..stuff your maw with samon and berries and then...hybernate.It was 7 degress yeasterday but we are already up to 27 today and no snow yet.I am going to go pick up my fabric today and start sewing,neck warmers,hoody cowls with scarfs.I just spent the morning stitching small stuffed animals onto preform black velvet hats.Also spent $100. buying some beautiful beaded silk dresses to resell under the "vintage" section.

I am so excited about getting my "shop" going but can't seem to make myself take the next step...taking pictures and listing/pricing/describing items.I feel like I am back in college,doing weeks worth of research and then being afraid to start the term paper because it wont be "good enough".If I keep spending so much money oon items for the store..I will be forced to list them so I can pay rent...oops.I guess I am just a full blooded American...I would rather shop then sell.

Hope you survive the weather....if it weren't for my love of polar bears...I would be praying for globalwarming

I like lots of snow. We haven't had a good amount stay for the past 3 years. I would like to live somewhere were the snow falls and stays for a month or 2. Here we get a nice snowfall followed by a Chinook wind. The roads become icy at night, and have a layer of water on them during the day. Not fun. If we want to go sledding we have to run out the day it snows or it will be gone within a few days. But when the temperature dips below -15C, I start to get a little grouchy.


Polar fleece is wonderful. You don't have to do any sewing on a scarf. No hemming on hats, etc. I used to make them for the kids when they were small. If they lost an item, I hadn't put a whole of my time or money into it.


You can do it! You won't know if your items will sell if you don't put them out there. I always take it personally when someone doesn't like what I make but I've realized, it's nothing personal at all. When someone looks at a custom sweater in the store, they never take into consideration who made it. And people have such diverse tastes. It amazes me.

Would it encourage you to finish Soul Music if I tell you that there is a chocolate delivery scene near the end, but you have to read the bits in between to get the context?

Just wanted to mention that if this person does come back with a different name, it would be easy to recognize her, by her rather unusual way of writing. (Took me 24 hours to process and share that due to fibro fog.

Had a major meltdown after having to interact with family members who are somewhat toxic. Better today.

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better today. It's almost impossible to feel well when everything else in life has gone haywire.

I was looking at the posts of that member and she was banned in August 2004, as well. For pretty much the same reason. Apparently she doesn't know how to make it go better. Sad.

It's in the past now. Probably best not to dwell on it too much.

I'm about 2/3 through the book now. How does Soul Music compare to the other books?

I can, sort of, answer that one...

I had to read the Wikipedia entry for it, and didn't really remember it at all. I have it, stashed away somewhere in the garage, along the the other 30+ of the series.

So... well down on my list of the "best of the series". Actually... I'm not too sure which I'd call the best. Not one of them has been in any way less than brilliant. "Guards! Guards!" was a memorable early one, although it was somewhat less "light" the the preceding seven, where the seventh ("Pyramids") has the unforgettable camels.

PS. I forget when the Unseen University's computer first crops up - where it isn't working too well, because it hasn't got enough bugs in it.
