Merle...I use the spell check on google tool bar but it doesnt seem to recognize punctuation.If I write a senstence with a comma or period...it seems to think that the two seperate words are one misspelled word....
Ex.I dont seem to "understand,if" you are a "scorpio,why" would you want to do "that.I" wouldn't.
the words in " " would be underlined as one misspelled word 
Does yours do this?Is there a way to "fix it".With my tendency to run-on sentences...I hardly use the spell check because half the paragraph ends up being "misspelled".

Mescalero - I just noticed you're from Glasgow. Do you speak Gaelic? I'm learning it. I'm listening to a Gaelic speaker reading aloud - I understand about 1/3 of the words, but not really enough to comprehend very well.
But I'm trying. At least I'm getting better at following along in the text 0 when I stop posting on WP and follow along the text. Heh.

... my "check as I type" spell-checker (added in to Seamonkey or Firefox, but totally unavailable in Internit Exploder) has underlined two errors:
"dont", because it is missing the apostrophe which must be put in to show where the "o" of "do not" has been omitted - to show as correctly "don't".
"scorpio", because this is a proper name, and should be capitalised, as "Scorpio".
In both the above cases, right clicking on the underlined word offered alternatives. For "dont", I got "don't", "dot", "don", "cont"(? - I suppose an attempt at an abbreviated "continued"?) and "font". For "scorpio", it offered "Scorpio" or "scorpion".
In your example, ONLY those two errors were shown. Mozilla doesn't quibble about where you put your punctuation.
PS. In your entire quote, it also underlined "krex" and "google", which I've now added to the dictionary. It also offered just the one other correction : "sentence" for "senstence".

try it that way, it works fine.

Wonder if Sabayon is worth a look? Griff mentioned it in THIS THREAD. I hadn't heard of it, no surprise there, I haven't caught up on my back issues of Computer CHOICE. Too busy in the WP playgrounds, if you must know.
Merle, I too laugh when I hear things like: "Romeo and Juliet? Is that any good? How does it end?" [/ditz voice]. The reference in Miss Saigon to the bui doi, children of American servicemen born to Vietnamese women, I found very moving. And the helicopter scene was magnificently staged, but it damn-near did my ears in. Yow!

I'm glad it's not just me...
...especially since I have nothing to contribute to the spell check discussion. My spelling is "creative" and I think spell checks are inhibiting to my creativity.

Yea AspieMartian! I don't use a spelling check ( but will use google in future) and don't use a caculator (mainly because I forget to take it with me)

Honestly, I have an old timey dictionary - with papaer pages and ink and the whole deal - on my computer desk, and I often look up the spellings of words in it, just like they did in the olden days of yore. But not always. As Seven of Nine once said: "The temptation of prefection can be alluring, but ultimately it is destructive."
Ok I might have paraphrased that a little. And she might have said "futile" instead of "destructive" - I don't remember. I could google it, but nah.
I have a calculator on my cecll phone, but using it requires I remembering to bring my cell phone with me. That's iffy, at best.
