Thistle and Shamrock - I haven't heard that program in years, didn't know it was still on! Kewlies. Continuity in the universe. Used to be on the PBS station out of Dallas a long time ago. Will definitely check back into it.

I knew someone, once, who had a bumper sticker in Gaelic that would have gotten him arrested had it ever been translated. He did enjoy having that on his car, he did. He tended towards the obscene on his better days.

Difference between Scots and Irish Gaelic, as far as I can tell, is pronunciation. Northern Irish is different from the stuff I sat through the lessons for down at the House of Ireland. Unfortunately, I learn very badly with the "let's all read a paragraph now, out loud" and "can you answer the following question in gaelic?" kind of learning. And the fact that it's written using the same alphabet, mostly, that is used in English but the sounds for those letters are so wildly different... that trips me up almost every time.

Go on, tell me the nefarious uses for a tea cosy. And last I heard from Chuck, he was digging himself a hole.

I think it's for drainage. It seems to be working. Lau is taking care of everyone's security. Postie is on retreat, meditating. And what do we get for our peaceful endeavours? Baseless accusations. It is sad. So sad.

Finally broke down and made one... but can't seem to get the image to post...

Ok you brain heavy dudes with your gaelic and what not, Deacon Blue's picture reminded me of a photo I have from Vietnam. We went to visit a rice noodle type place and curled up in a bucket of raw noodles was a mangy dog!

I have lost nearly all my sight in my right eye. It has been caused by a blocked vein. When I cover my good eye I cannot see the details of the face of the person that I'm talking to. Hopefully it will heal itself.

I saw my optometrist at midday; other appointments were put back to squeeze me in. At 2:30 I saw an op opth eye specialist, Great service!

So relieved your vision loss isn't permanent, Robyn!

Hope your eye gets better, nannarob. I would panic if I thought I was losing my eye-sight. I'm too much of a visual thinker.

My mom lived w/ me until she died a couple years ago of cancer. She wasn't "crazy" however she was a religious fanatic. (and I mean FANATIC) she was constantly sending all her money to the T.V. evangalists and the only channel; she'd watch was the "Angel" network or whatever they're all called. She missed a LOT of good movies because she would't watch them if someone cussed in it. (Refused to watch "The Fisher King" because of that)
Althrough I did't agree w/ what she was doing and felt she was getting "ripped off" by some of these people. It made her happy, it was HER money, and she got a LOT of contentment out of it. She felt like she was making a difference in someone whos less fortunate life. I'm not gonna take that away from her.
Maybe your mom is trying to fill the void left by your dads death with "stuff." Of course she cries over your Dads death, it's only been a couple months, what do you expect. I still cry over deaths 4 1/2 years ago and am unable to talk about it in depth to this day. It's STILL too painful. I have no real advice to offer except "good luck"
I miss my mom still even through she drove me BAT-SHIT when she lived w/ me. I wish I had known about AS back then and could have questioned her about my childhood more throughly.
Really miss her on "Our"birthday. (both on the same day) now I have noone who even cares. You should make every effort to "enjoy it while it lasts, cause it won't last forever, ya know"
