Sulphur-crested cockatoo. We have large populations of cockatoos and other parrot species hereabouts, due to the forest cover and mild climate. The white fellas with the yellow crests are by far the most numerous.

Hope you (Richie) and Nannarob are both feeling better soon. BTW Richie, I haven't commented but I LOVE how your old "Bookworm" guy made his "escape" :D

I saw my optometrist at midday; other appointments were put back to squeeze me in. At 2:30 I saw an op opth eye specialist, Great service!

Lurking. Been in extreme flare up of CFIDS. My father has been pressuring me to drop everything and come stay with him. The nursing home has told him that in order for them to discharge him, he will need someone to stay with him. He has never taken my illness seriously, and has no idea how debilitating it is. While a stroke is life changing, so is CFIDS. One is visible, the other isn't. I've been talking to my older brother, who lives blocks away from my dad. He seemed to agree with my father, making it worse. I finally pointed out that my dad would definitely benefit from a strong, healthy male looking after him. I asked, "If you'd had the stroke, how would you feel about me helping you go potty?" I think a light bulb went off, finally!

Nannarob, hope your eye heals quickly! :flower:

Richie, hope you feel better soon. :bounce:

you have rare good sense! What a clear and concise command of the situation, Hartz! Glad you didn't think of it later, but put it out there at the right moment ( a 'teachable moment')

appreciatively,

Merle

Do you ntice that when one of us go under in the cafe, a few join in the slide. Everyone else, be careful. Hartz and Richie and I don't want any more company.

Hartz, just because you have the boobs doesn't mean you should be the carer! Good on you for standing up for yourself. In all your grief I'm sure you can see how self absorbed your father is.

There's no reason that both of you should be in hospital, and that would surely happen if you cared for your father. Please accept a cyber hug!

Richie, get well soon. Let us know how you are going.

AspieMartian you are in a no win situation. Can you get help for her? I think that it is too heavy a burden a son can bare alone.

I'm sorry that your father died recently.

Good morning. I hope you're feeling better today, Richie. Nannarob, I hope you're taking care of that eye. That is very scary! My family has a history of blood clots so I am ever vigilant. You are handling it far better than I would be.

That was the impression I was getting, that this thread was for an established clique that wasn't very interested in new people joining in. Thank for letting me know. I won't post here anymore.

Hey AM I think you may have misunderstood what Nannarob was trying to say. I was sick last week, and now Nannarob is having "Eye/health" issues, as is Richie, and Hartz. When she says she doesn't want any more "joining in" I'm pretty sure she means "getting sick" It sounds SO unlike our dear Bobby to try and push anyone out of the Cafe. Personally speaking, she was who kept PMing me offering me her gentle encouragement, trying to get me out of my shell and to join in. (They probably regret it now that they see what kind of "long posts"I have :D )
Everyone here has been most "welcoming" to me and I was new in August and not part of any "clique" Maybe you should't assume everything is about you. Sometimes things are said that can misconstrued when taken out of context.
Also I wanted to say that after I read my post about my Moms death I realized you might take it as an attack or something about how your dealing w/ your moms living w/ you.
It wasnt meant that way at all.
Its just MY experiences w/ MY Mom. NOTHING MORE. She drove me Crazy, (I'm an Atheist/Agnostic (I WANT to believe, but don't) and I had to listen to all that religious stuff nonstop, but it's my MOM, and that's all that really mattered. We had 4 mos notice that she was gonna die. I wish we had talked more instead of letting our differences become a void between us.

I hope that you will reconsider AspieMartian, as everyone is welcome here! Robyn was pointing out (as Reika says) that when one of us gets sick, "blue", or is going through a hard time many of us also go through it at the same time. 8O (Merle did it).  (It's all that astrological prognosticating and mantic dabbling she practices that binds our collective fates).

Robyn - Wow! I hope that your problem turns out to be minor, painless, and easily treatable. What an awful experience to have to go through! I send you best wishes for a return to good health soon!

I will be in court for the next two days giving testimony (I turned in a cardiologist for writing and selling bogus scripts for attention deficit disorder drugs (Adderall), pain relievers (Lortab and Percocet), and muscle relaxers/antianxiety drugs (Soma and Valium). The investigation lead to a corrupt cardiology group, a hospital, several nurses, and I guess I'll see who else tomorrow). Good thing we have a "speedy" court system. I reported the bogus scripts two years ago. (They weren't a very bright bunch. None of the signatures matched at all; the scripts had glaring mistakes (one script for Valium was spelled "Valina"; they weren't for drugs that a cardiologist would write for; they brought several of the scripts to me, on different days, at 2:00 in the morning...)

...the day before I reported everything to the investigative board, I called the "cardiologist" who wrote the "Valina" script. Our conversation went like this:

"Hello Dr. Lee, this is Chuck at the pharmacy. I've got a script here with your name on it but I'm not sure if you actually wrote it."
(without me giving any other details) "Yeah, I wrote it. You can tell my scripts because I always circle my name at the top."
"Your name isn't circled."
"Yeah, well it's mine, it's legit, I write for #40."
"It's not for #40."
"Yeah, well sometimes I write for #30, #50, and #100."
"It's not for those numbers either."
"Yeah, well, its mine, though - you can fill it."
"You didn't put your identification number on it."
"I didn't? Must have forgot. Go ahead and fill it anyway. Valium - whatever number I wrote for. Yeah, its good."
"It's for Valium? You misspelled it."
"I did? (laughs a little) Well, I've been busy doing heart surgery and whatnot."
(deadpan) "So you're a cardiologist."
(angry) "I certainly am! Just fill the script!"
"Where in the body would you find the "Circle of Willis"?
"...Who?..."
"Sorry doc, not a "who" question. Let's try something easier. How many chambers does a mammalian heart have?"
"....what?!"
"The mammalian heart - you know - as in human - how many chambers does it have?"
"I don't have to answer that!! !"
"Come on doc. Just gimme a number. Any cardiologist should be able to to knock that one outta the park."
"THREE. Now fill the damn script!"
"Sure thing doc."

Would'da been the right answer if I had asked about the number of chambers found in most reptilian/amphibian hearts.

Epilogue: the scary part - dude really is a cardiologist. 8O

That last sentence sent a chill thru MY heart. He is an actual Dr.????? I'm afraid.
I got a Dr.Sahai and Webster City Custom Meats in Iowa into a LOT of trouble 20 something years ago by writing a letter to the Iowa Medical Association asking why NOONE EVER had a "work-related" medical problem and why no one had EVER received Workmans Comp from there. long story short they were in "cahoots" and it turned into a big insurance fraud case. It made me EXTREAMLY unpopular in the teensy-weensy town of Webster City let me tell you. I got the "evil eye" just pumping gas. It was not good. But I did the right thing so I'm cool w/ it. All those poor old women who'd cut meat all their lives FINALLY started getting workmans comp for their carpal tunnel (spelled wrong I'm sure) :D
I did't like the Dr. in the first place cause when I had to go see him for a physical I asked the nurses both on the phone and when I first got there if I'd have to strip. They all told me I would't have too since it was just a physical for a job. First thing he said to me when he walked in the door was "disrobe" and I said I did't have to and it was just a bad experience all the way around. He REALLY gave me "the creeps" and I'm glad he got caught to be honest.
Good for you Chuck. I'm afraid to go to the hospitals andDr. now. Since I have no insurance and live in America,"never the twain shall meet" so I think I'll be o.k. :D
