I think you'll find that the cat has been fairly neatly edited into the picture. The dark banding along its belly and around its back leg gives a clue.
And... also, slightly belated congratulations on your 2,000th post, Nan.

That might be true but the children look terrified, as well. There is nothing funny about that picture at all.

I have no idea. But people send me pictures like this all the time - if there's a cat involved, they send it to me. They're starting to move into the bizarre. They look terrified to you? Interesting. They look startled to me, the one on the left seems a bit afraid or nervous - like one sees on a roller-coaster, the one on the right looks vaguely annoyed. But I see nothing else. I have pulled it down to avoid upsetting anyone.

You didn't upset me, Nan. The kids just didn't look like they were having alot of fun. My relatives used to do thinks like that with us kids and we had to say we were having fun. Or we would get teased and called sissies or chickens. I guess, I just had knee-jerk reaction to the facial expressions.

I chalked their expressions up to the "boooo!" factor - they wouldn't have gotten in the boat for a thrill ride if they weren't expecting to wipe out. Later they'd likely be asking to do it again. But that's just my take on it. I thought the photo bizarre, not humourous. Except in a kind of a situational "what's wrong with this photo" kind of way. As in, what would the chances of anyone actually being able to get a shot like this be in real life? And who would be stupid enough to take a clawed cat out into a rubber dingy, given the puncture factor?

Poor Jelly! But she will recover. Lots of copperheads around here - the cats mostly live...
... but if you have a "pet door" on your door, you never know what type of "guest" may enter your home attached to your cat...
(just a thought). Snakes don't bother me, have found quite a few in my house. Scorpions too. But I know they bother most people, so thought I'd share, especially with my Aussie friends who are enjoying warm weather...
