you gotta take the bit in your teeth and keep up, DuncanBass! We have been cranking out this ExCafe from the ashes of the first Cafe. Toss in the silliness, we are definitely up for it!

I have been curious...first cafe? I am too faint of heart to read through all 658 pages of this place. Can anyone clue me in?

I remember that "Huh?" feeling I had when I first started posting here. At that time there was a thread called the Dino Aspie Cafe, that had been started by a member called Yowling Cat.
At some point it was decided that a whole forum should be started for the older adults (maturity not required) and the Cafe was moved to the In-depth Adult....forum.

Poor Lau, loyal gee-knee-us that he is, didn't take kindly to the sudden removal of the cafe from it's location (Aspie's and change, you know) thus deciding to build a new one, The Dino Aspie Ex-cafe. It was built from the rubble and devastation of the other, which has since fallen by the wayside. This ex-cafe has seen it's fair share of laughter, debate and tears. It's been resurrected after Postie's plan to take over the world which ended with the ex-cafe being struck by a flaming meteor (my rock, actually. Postie stole it and either he or Gromit launched it into orbit before slamming it back to WP, where it hit the ex-cafe).

And that is the long answer to your short question.

Wonderful music! Until seeing them now, I have always been under the impression that I was listening to women singing in Sweet, and Supertramp. (Always liked Supertramp). I really liked the last selection of your music richie.! Therefore, I hope you enjoyed my cereal. (Actually, I found it later, along with my keys and mail, on top of my dryer. I made it upstairs with my folded clothes and spoon, and when I sat down at the computer with the spoon still in my hand - I thought that I had the cereal with me as well...) (such is a day in the life of Chuck). A-hem.

Nan, I haven't forgot about your daughter. The stuff I told you already I was trying to send to you quickly while you were fleeing fires, and whatnot. I've been thinking about her cellular differentiation embryologically from the time of morula forward, then backtracked along genetics lines. When I saw how dated my genetics knowledge was, I hit the medical library and updated that. Now I am learning everything known about each of the genes in all of the human chromosomes. The information now known is astounding! Anyhoo, I am developing an interesting picture inside my head, and think that I may be bloodhounding down the right track. This will take me a while, as things form in my mind at random, taking their time as they will, often while I sleep. And I read slow. But if I find the affected gene(s), I will write everything down for you, and if I can figure it out - a way to correct the affected gene(s) (or having found them, perhaps pointing them out will allow an expert in the field a shot at correction).

My thoughts are going a few different directions, but my strongest inclination is leading me a certain way, and I have come to a point where I need your input to see if my thinking is going down the correct path. (Please note: I do not wish to give you false hope. I am looking for a very small needle in a very large haystack! I have a 99% chance of failing). The following questions are unrelated, but my mind keeps circling them:

1. concerning her ANA test(s?): (I'm not sure if they ever told you this information, so I don't know if you will be able to provide me the answer) Antinuclear antibody titers have characteristic florescent staining patterns. Four commonly reported patterns of immunoflourescence are homogenous, speckled, nucleolar, and rim. If I am thinking right, hers should show as speckled, or speckled diffuse. Do you know?

2. You never said, but is the skin on her back scaly, or does it peel often?

3. Does she crave salt? (I mean - a lot of salt). (You may have told me this already, but I cannot remember. And if I am thinking right - she would crave salt.)

4. Are her eyes sensitive to light?

Please forgive my constant return to this. I am like a bulldog - once I get into something I cannot let it go. (like OCD on turbocharge ). I hope that I am not bugging the heck out of you.

Alright. Sillyness, huh? Well, I had a running joke with my daughter I thought I'd share, then. Talk of lau reminded me. I noticed that there is a trend of relating human intelligence to the word 'ass', at least in America.
Think about it. When someone does something stupid, we mutter (or say out loud) "dumbass". This is a person of little intelligence, at least at that moment.
Some would think 'jackass' is the worst, but I thought about this. A jackass, in reality, is a stubborn little animal that, when you are trying to get it to do smething, digs in its 4 heels and looks at you as if to say "dumbass!" So I think jackass rates higher.
People whom you think of in generally good terms, but sometimes act poorly, are often just called an 'ass'. Nuff said.
When you are displaying your wit in a sarcastic fashion? 'Smart ass.'
When you are really good at it? 'Wise ass'.
So we have progressed from dumbass to wise ass, and one might thing we were done. But I submit that there is one more level, very difficult to attain, that bears mentioning.
And what might that be?
A 'Genie-ass'.
