To continue on from where our resident chair of gum-chewing footwear left off, I should like to address the second area.
Gum chewing
Now, as we all recognise, there are many dangers inherent in the act of chewing, especially so when the item being chewed is gum.
For a start, one must ensure that one has understood the terminology correctly. The gum concerned is not that in which the teeth are sometimes found. Nor is it the substance used for closure of envelopes or affixation of postal stamps. No, it is the confectionery we are meaning.
Other specialist considerations will also be involved, such as the denture fixative that you may require. It is strongly recommended that you do not opt for superglue. Although this will almost certainly assist in the chewing phase, there may be unfortunate after effects.
Now, having outlines the overall prerequisites for the act, we can progress to the muscular control required. Some insist that no in-depth knowledge of the 437 individual muscles concerned is needed. I beg to differ. I feel that one should know each by name (and having their telephne numbers to hand would also be wise).
Once one has mastered the full, harmonious operation of the musculature, we need to progress to the coordination required between the upper entablature and the pedestabular ambulatory regions. As this is not my speciality, I pass (out?) on the floor... to our synchronism expert...
