Just wanted to let you know that I'm willing to commiserate w/ you Sleepy Dragon. Since the death of my daughter I have yet to receive the "Holiday Spirit" again or even been motivated enough to put up a tree. For me the holidays represent "Family" and I'm trying to pick up the pieces and move on.
I try not to be a complete and total "Scrooge" and depress others , and I REALLY do still enjoy the "giving" part of it. It's the only joy I get out of the whole "Season", the feeling that comes w/ finding a gift for someone that is uniquely suited to their tastes, that they truly will enjoy to no end. Giving to others rekindles a warmth in me that has lain dormant, second to survival, for quite awhile.
Mini-Reika knows what a Christmas Tree is this year (for the first time) so next year I may break down and put one up. Currently, I'm still "licking my wounds" but am trying to remain optimistic. I'm lucky to have her to keep me young and busy. (Less "time-to-think" is a blessing at this time of year.)Anyway, don't want to ramble on in my usual style so just hang in there SD, it'll all be over with soon. Thats what I tell myself to get me thru.

Okay, weird thing going on, want to see if anyone here has had anything like this happen.

Tintinnitus has, of course, been a part of my life forever. Right now, it's louder than usual. I've also got something strange in my vision - a sort of shimmering outline, like an upside-down capital Q, with part of it right across the focal point. It's annoying as hell, especially since H dropped by the library and picked me up a copy of Pournelle and Stirling's "The Prince", an omnibus volume of the Falkenberg's Legion stories (has to do with the collapse of the CoDominium, and the rise of the Empire of Man, in Pournelle's future-history timeline). I'm trying to read it, and every time the story starts to suck me in, this damned glowing LINE gets in the way!! !

Any clues what this might be?

Does the "glowing line" move with the direction your looking but seeming to lag a millisecond behind by chance? If you lok sharply to the left or right does it follow?

It does move when I move my eyes - like I said, one part is right in the focal point of my vision. No headache or anything, though.

I appreciate the concern, duncans, but I don't have anything even approaching health insurance, and while an ER will treat all comers regardless of ability to pay, the hospital's financial department will pursue non-payers relentlessly...
