You're in good company. There are some of us who don't have time off except for one or two days.
Is your daughter with you for Christmas?

I have Mon and Tues off then work NewYears Day. . usually our busiest day.

Yes, blessedmom, thank you for asking. She is with me daily. I have full custody.

My son is also coming over, and my mother will be visiting (winces), then my daughter and I go to my dad and stepmoms for dinner.

My situation is almost the opposite, sinsboldly, in that most everyone we work with in other states has these days off, so we are working with no real way to do our job.

What about you guys?

My 3 boys are at their dad's (first husband) house until Christmas Eve. They left yesterday. My daughter will be with her dad (second husband) and paternal grandparents Christmas Eve. On Christmas day, I'll take all 4 of them to my parents. My brothers will be there with their wives, kids and dogs. It is always an interesting day.(Said with a note of trepidation). I have an escape plan this year.

I also have full custody of my kids.

I'm glad she is with you. My kids spent one Christmas away from home 8 years ago and it has never happened again. I was so depressed.

Your new avatar is what my middle son looked like when I finally had to break the news to him that there is no Santa. He was in grade 4 and all of the other kids new the truth. He just wouldn't believe it. He was so mad and upset when I told him that I felt bad for days.
He just really wanted to believe!

In my case, her !@%#@%$#@^%$#^$%*(&)(*_)(*()&*(^)&*$%^$^ing mother is not in the picture, and hasn't been heard from by us in over 2 years (good riddance!)

I find myself jealous again! I have no escape plan! Damn my lack of foresight!

My stepmom's will be a trial, always is. She is a nice lady, but she actually does not like people and has limited social skills by choice. This is great with me, but when I am part of a gathering the two of us can make it a grand discomfortfest. Over the holidays this is somewhat less funny than other times.

Oh, a good escape plan is a necessity. It prevents all sorts of discomfort and wars. I think all of the leaders who have started wars had their skills developed by holidays and family functions.

I do take comfort in the fact that they are not very Christmasy people, and so I will not be surrounded by flashing lights and other bits of holiday overload, save that she has 3 dogs and 21 cats. THAT can be entertaining.

A quilting class, blessedmom, sounds like fun. I would have taken up patchwork as a perseveration, except that any activity that involves a steam iron is anathema to me.

Santa Claus. My guess is that the boys cottoned onto the truth about Santa a very long time ago, and have been playing along with us oldies just to keep us happy.

It is really hard to stay in a bad mood around this place!!

My sliding door window blew off of my van yesterday. I had it parked so it the back was facing into the wind and my window open outward with the opening facing that way. It must have been open just enough for the wind to have caught and there it was, in the mall parking lot, laying 10 feet in front of the van. The clips were torn right off the van. I really hate the wind around here. It was gusting to 100km/hour last night while we were shopping.

But when lil' girl started squealing with joy because there was snow blowing into the van as we drove, I just had to laugh and it didn't seem so bad after all. Until I hear the price for fixing it of course.
