Nice to see you and Rosenametaken have arrived in time for New Year's revels in the Café! *blows noisemaker* It's my first New Year here as well, I only joined WP in May.

You're forgiven! if I tried to reread it myself, I don't think I'd understand even the parts I wrote. Uhh, Lau, are there any plans to release a highlights package? "Dino-Aspie Greatest Hits & Near Misses, Vols I-III"....

Ongoing Skype-v-Wrong Planet woes: I doubled the size of my IE browser cache, but this did not fix the problem. As long as Skype is running, I get about 30 seconds max on WP, and then the page stops responding. To resurrect an expression from my childhood, "Wouldn't THAT frost ya!" :x

I have a new computer! Next week I get to try and change over - I have zero techie skills - high stress!

In the meantime, Happy New Year! *toast with mango cooler*

I've just poured myself a tall glass of pure Grape Juice to toast the New Year in.

Don't stress... not worth it.

If the old one is XP, just use the "Start"/"Programs"/"Accessories"/"System Tools""/"Transfer Settings" (I think I've got that roughly right - XP not to hand). It should do most of the hassle for you, pretty painlessly. If the new one is Vista, upgrade to XP. :)

AUGH!! I think most of the stuff is transferred. I just have to plug in the new modem and hope it all works. Which, I will NOT attempt until the help desk guy is in his office on Jan 2.

SleepyDragon,

If you have Norton, add *Skype* to the exception list. (Or try turning off auto-detect, see if they both run, and then turn it back on.) I'm pretty sure it's a Norton problem.

Happy Hogmanay to all! :D

Edited for beer.

Cheers, Hartz! :D Lil' girl, Kid1 and I have just poured ourselves some sparkling grape peach juice from France (makes lil' girl feel like a Princess, she says. ) and toasted the New Year early. Kid1 seems to think that he needs vodka in his but I don't think I'm ready to deal with an intoxicated 16 year old just yet. He can do that at his father's house.

And a happy Hogmanay and Ne'erday to you as well! :rendeer:

At first I thought it might be a firewall/antivirus issue, but since the problem happens only when I'm using Skype, and never when I've uninstalled it, maybe not. Thanks for suggesting it, though.

Ah blessedmom, that brings back memories. "Aw mom, I can drink a whole bottle of beer, can't I?" "I've already told you - half a bottle, and no more. Share that one with your sister."

That's funny! About getting intoxicated at his father's house, I mean.
