My new theory as to why Skype kept causing WP to crash on my computer, whilst other sites like Google continued to work okay - there must be conflict between Skype and some-or-other browser plugin or enhancement that's used by some web pages but not others. Now to see whether Skype or MS have come up with a nifty solution...

If you haven't already, upgrade your Skype to 3.6. I did and I haven't had a problem since. Lau found some information on it and when I remember where it is, I'll post it for you.

Hoo Boy! Discovered all kinds of problems when I went on my heating unit "search and repair" mission yesterday! It's a lucky thing my house did not burn down!! ! 8O

The electrician who wired this house used aluminum wire instead of copper 8O , and did not apply Burndy "Penetrox A" compound (an oxide inhibitor for aluminum wire lead connections) to the connector ends. 8O 8O 8O I noticed evidence of excessive heat on several metal pieces and screws in the main fuse box, so I shut off the power main and set about replacing and repairing everything damaged. Went through the entire house and checked every electrical outlet. Cut the ends off all the wire ends, made new ends, coated them with Penetrox, and attached them to new connectors. Replaced two damaged fuse switches, and pigtailed several ends with copper wire. Should be much safer now, and the heating units work fine.

Found what I thought to be an interesting philosophical piece on You Tube that relates to "700" (...erm, a little late). I don't necessarily espouse these ideas, and they can certainly be argued against, but I do agree with quite a bit of it. I appreciate that whoever this man is, he took the time to organize his belief system into words. I think it would be interesting to construct a limited word message to myself. (Mine would probably resemble something akin to "mmmm... bread." )I hope I don't offend anyone presenting it here. [I apologize for the commercial nature of the ending - I am not trying to sell anything.  If you hear the words without watching the video, it may be less offensive. My intent in presenting this is not to challenge anyone else's belief system, or to guide the cafe' into the philosophical realm (although we have entered it already a time or two (eg., the meaning of life according to muffins) - I just stumbled across it while searching for things related to "700" and found it interesting.]:

How to beat a cold house...hat...and this kind you can even sleep with. Headphones optional and they hurt in bed and I don't care how soft a pillow you try.

The picture I took the other night to show someone on Skype (worked like a charm, took it, and sent it easily, well once I figured out what buttons to push) a fossil I had found a few miles from here. Elevation would be about 1700ish feet above sea level. It's no wonder the Native American beginnings stories of them were about The Great Turtle creating land. It's a poor picture, much detail in the fossil and it doesn't need me in the same frame. Need to get a good picture of the thing at some point but a web cam ain't the way to do it.

So many... so many.... :D With my mother, it's a tossup between "Look it up in the dictionary!" and "I'll get the wooden spoon...."

oh, in my parents house it was "the butter paddle". my mom had a wooden butter paddle that was slightly concave on one side and she would smack my bare bottom with the convex side quite smartly! If I had any self control at all, I would stop what ever I was doing and freeze in place if she even LOOKED towards where she kept the butter paddle.

Dad would undo his belt ( with the clinkle clinkle of the belt buckle sound) and sit down on a chair and I would have to walk up to him to "take my medicine!" I would take the belting across my ass easier than that horrible walk up to him.

anyone else disciplined with corporal punishment?

We had the wooden spoon in our house along with Dad's belt. But he just stormed in the room and got you before you had a chance to worry about it.

Stupid things they said........ "Do you want a spanking?" :? Like we were going to say "yes".
"I'm gonna' knock your heads together if you don't knock it off." "Are you really that stupid?" and my all time favorite , "If you stopped being so whiny you wouldn't be sick all the time." A new cure for Crohn's disease and migraines, don't whine.

Is there another kind? I was smart enough to start crying promptly so I could quit and get it overwith. My brother tried to "be a man" so he got whipped or beaten until he cried and then couldn't stop for the 'I won't stop until you stop crying' phase. I never understood that. Once I figured out the rules it was not so bad, except for frustration of usually not knowing the reason and being told "you know exactly what you did/why" etc. So I never learned how to prevent the punishment in the first place.

LOL, I know that clinkle sound well! It was usually a wholesale spanking when Daddy got home. Nobody was spared, except the current infant  We usually started fighting over hiding places about a half an hour before he was due. Once I tried to hide beneath a stack of laundry, but he found me.

It is a toque? And it isn't cool? Actually it's my helmet liner, I'm still in deep space returning from the moon. That's a moon rock. What do you think it might mean? Don't pay any attention to the back ground it's just a facade to make me feel like I'm still in my room. I don't like heights you know.

You got COOKIES?! ! I am sooo out of cookies. I think I have some milk and SPAM(tm) floating around here someplace. Every time I put something down, it's never where I leave it, I just don't understand it. It almost seems like my wife is on this trip and moving things around on me, like always. But you best get the COOKIES!! to me soon, the milk expiration date is getting close. It is just so lonely in space, you just can't imagine.
