...Goldman's research holds promise, but they need to also think about how mirror neurons are used in infants to "learn" non-verbal cues. Infants have the most one on one contact with a human adult (typically) so to use the stem cells in an adult human (if they could be turned off to everything but mirror neuron production) would also require that adult to spend the amount of time an infant spends with their caretaker in the same ways. Otherwise, your result would not be the same. I don't see that working in a normal adult setting because the time spent learning what an infant does through their mirror neurons is not the same nor is the type of contact. You'd be talking extensive therapy after the regeneration is successful.

Also, he was looking at everything but Autism. Is this because it is developmental and not disease or trauma induced? In the case of developmental, depending on when it is happening in the process, the problem could go all the way back from the forming of the neural node in an embryo. You couldn't really take an Autistic's stem cells and come up with a new result unless something after that point causes the difference.

Come to think of it, I don't know why they don't start from Goldman's research to figure out when it's happening. You could start from the stem cells of any Autistic, take it through the steps and find out exactly when the difference presents itself.

Frankly, that would be more useful than all this other mumbo jumbo based on "feeling." <rolls eyes again>

This is what comes of allowing Psychiatry to "own" Autism. They'll never figure anything out because frankly they wouldn't earn any money if they did. They want to "talk" you out of it or "drug" you out of it or "behavior therapy" you out of it. That's where their money is and they are not going to spend money on a theory like Goldman's that would take it away from them. Hacks. <spit> That's what I have to say about that. Witch doctors. The lot of them.

You've come up with a good plan as a direction for Goldman's research. I hope they never try it, although they probably will - if only by stumbling around in the dark and reaching it by accident. I take that back. If it would assist someone who wants the "help", and if it were presented as an option and not mandatory, I would hope that it would be available for those individuals.

(I sure wouldn't volunteer as the first guinea pig. Too many things that could go - oh - so - wrong). 8O

I am not going to touch this. I already am deep in chocolate debt as it is, I'll be paying off my installments for years to come. You are Mr Squeezyman, if you can't squeeze it out of her, what makes you think I could? And don't forget, she's got the Rock.

Ask Nan. She might be able to lean on Lauri. She's a great leaner, Nan is. That piddling little tower in Pisa has nothing on Nan when it comes to a good leaning.

Your alternative is surveillance. Who do we know has been trained in sneaking up on people?

That should give you a start. Me, I'm not curious. I am serene. I am detached. I am above it all. Or possibly behind. It's hard to tell.

'scuse you. I do not "lean" on people.

I call my cousin Louie from Bayonne and his friends Guido and Bruiser and THEY lean on people.

I got your back postie. However, you may decide that you'd be better off with Jon and richie on your side. I seem to be doing a lousy job protecting my own backside today. (Why, oh why? I just sit here minding my own business, and find myself skewered and spitted-ed).

Yeah, I had a friend who went that route. Looked through the stud book and picked out the model she wanted. $400 a month for the vials.

Jeez, for that she coulda just went out and bought a kid and not had to contemplate bearing one. (Thankfully, the endeavor did not work.)

It didn't come to the feed store, though. UPS or FedEx, I forget which. (no, really!).

I'm rested and I'm actually relatively well-fed these days. Yer gonna be toast, except I'm at work and have to go back to dealing with squishy carpets and people unclear on the concept of "don't plug that machine in yet!"

There was a lecture? Is there a manual to go with the lecture?

Or a truck full of rednecks who will lean on someone for a six pack of beer.

Never break a nail doing what a six pack of beer can get done for you. There are perfectly willing beings living in fairly close proximity to me who will do the job. Just go to the right out of my subdivision; keep driving until the black top ends; wait until you see horse farms and pitbulls lying in the road and stop the first available truck covered in mud. If it has a rebel flag in the back window it's a bonus. They are cheaper than Louie, Guido and Bruiser but just as effective.

They also work well for divorce negotiations.
