Can I be fascinated by the play of the light on the seashells that are below the high-water mark, and still wet from the sea?

Took the test again, out of curiosity. I got a 40. And I didn't even study!

J took the test, and got a 29. (He's got ADD, but swears he doesn't any more - also has dyslexia, but refuses to acknowledge it.) :)

Cookie-creaky topic

Thank you, Lau and Lemon, for the cookie(s). I am not sure how many I ate.

I like date squares, too. I make my own. Oatmeal is good. And also dates. I should bring some to the cafe. But maybe I had better leave Sartre out this time. He smokes.

I just finished watching an Asperger's lie Youtube video on a forum in the General Autism Discussion board and it was garbage. The author's site was also crap. I am only mentioning it in case no one else heard of it. I would not want to bore anyone, as I do go on and on, and sometimes kill threads. I have a hunch this is a Dino-Lite Cafe, and I would not want to weigh it down.

Thank you.

Hi, sartresue! We are very happy to have you here. There are so many facets to this thread that it's hard to explain what it is in words. We are at times Dino-lite cafe. There is a lot of silliness and we do have a tendency to laugh at ourselves. But it has also seen it's share of seriousness and tragedy. We were here when Cosmiccat lost her grandson in an accident, we've been here for each others stories of growing up with AS but not knowing it, and when I posted that my husband had moved out, the cafe crowd was here for me. And we have welcomed many newcomers along the way, some that have stayed and others that have moved on.

There has been many a dark angry rant posted here and the cafe goes on. It is as resilient as the people that post here.

Lauri

Kilt threads? Don't think we've had that before. Are we talking great kilt or small kilt here?

If called upon, I can generate some hot air to increase buoyancy, and a few other cafe guests are not so bad either when duty calls.

Sartresue - you're doing great! :D Here just a short time, and already talking about creaky cookies and oatmeal. See? Ya fits right in!

I love that song "Crazy"! Especially when he turns the lyrics around and starts singing "I think you're crazy."

Lau - that question about 'enjoying meeting new people' has changed for me as well. I have enjoyed meeting everyone here. Enjoy trying to meet people in real life, and have made many friends. That certainly wasn't always the case! I learn a little bit more each time I try. So - 9 more years, eh?

Sartresue - I learned a neat trick. If you walk up to someone, smile, and "stomp" your foot at them, it takes them aback. It has to be done with a lot of exaggeration. And you have to keep grinning. If they don't respond - just keep stomping, but a little closer each time... ...and a little crazier, until it turns into an insane tap dancing routine. Then they either laugh, or say "hello...?", or stomp back. If you just kid around a bit, they soon realize you are crazy, and their guard comes down, and they'll talk to you about any/everything. Kids love it! But I think adults enjoy it more. (Here - practice the moves of Mr. Six and you'll have to run away from people  :)

(...nevermind how I learned this neat trick. 8O Let's just say - nobody died.)

I like everyones' descriptions of the beach. Can picture your scenes in my head. :D Very nice on this gray winter day - was like taking a vacation. Sometimes I stare at the sun sparkles on water until I get a headache. Other times, I examine sand until I rock-lobsterize. (Time? Where'd it go? Truth be told - I always have to bring a book as well. Maybe three. And pencil and paper. :P Then I usually end up swimming and not reading a word. )

And I love lucid full-color dreams!! ! :D

Threading Kilts topic

That's a good pseudopataphysical metaphoric joke, Gromit

I like kilts, too, large and small. I suppose there is the age old mystery of what is under them (a guy's [wait for it]..................................................................................................................butt!). Ha Ha. What did you think I was going to write?

Sure you don't want "flowers"?? :) Did the pink tutu wear out? (speaking of which, who has that now, you or Lau?) Or did Gromit take it? 8O

Gromit - and he embroidered flowers on it. He wears it with an inner tube and rubber duck shoes whenever he has to appear in court in ceremonial dress.

Asperger's Laughs Youtube topic

DearChuck:

This was a very funny video. I must learn to laugh more, to lighten the load. I never did before. Always serious, though in print I can see the joke. Context. A text taken out of context is a pretext (pretension). But here one can be oneself. Thank you.

Blessedmom, thank you for your warm welcome. I am the blessed mom of 3 (count 'em, 3) NT children. And two dogs and one cat. And one ex husband, NT, who is a pain, but good for the two younger ones, though they prefer to be with me. I am sorry about Cosmiccat's grandson. It hurts. :( I have been a mother for 34 years but not a grandmother. Being a mother across the generations. The love extends.

I hope if anyone needs to rant big time they can do so in an acceptable way, though this is not always easy. I have not had a problem yet, but I have seen others on WP get banned if they do not follow the rules. :o

took the test, made the mid-thirties. if i'd taken it 20 years ago, i'd be well higher. if i'd taken it 30 years ago, i'd still be trying to figure out what they meant by the questions....
