Greetings old friends and new. Welcome Heron, morning_after & Sartresue (I'm guessing you are a lover of Sartre, Sue. If that's the case, I am too, even if it's not the case, actually.)

We'll be back in PA on the 28th. I'll be able to spend more time here. Sounds to me, from what I've read, that everyone is doing fine, hanging in there and having a good old time in the cafe.

I had an interesting experience in the post office this morning. I was sending books home so I wouldn't have to carry so much on the plane. The post office was packed and a half hour away from Noon closing time on Saturday. There were only two clerks on duty ( a female and a male) and they were doing their best to be helpful and polite. A woman customer was being waited on, she wanted to post a box but she hadn't filled in the information on her package. The female clerk gave her a proper label and politely asked her to step aside to fill in the information so that another customer could helped in the meantime. She assured the woman that she wouldn't lose her place in line but would be taken as soon as she was finished filling out her package. The woman began to show an attitude. The male clerk called "next" and I thought that would be me so I began to approach the counter. The female clerk notice that the woman had finished filling out her package and said "No, that would be this woman, she is ready now." So the woman went to the male clerk and he proceeded to help her. I then was called up to be waited on by the female clerk. All the while the woman complained about what terrible service she was receiving, and how she was made to wait twice and should have been permitted to fill out her package at the counter and how this would never happen in her hometown post office. She went on and on and on, really being rude to the male clerk. She told him she was going to be making a complaint about the service. Finally, (and I'm saving you about a page of dialogue that went on between the woman and the male clerk with occasional comments by the female clerk) finally, the male clerk told the woman to "Shut Up". You could have heard a pin drop in the post office. The woman then said "Well, now I really am going to file a complaint, you just told me to shut up." I knew the clerk was at his wits end and shouldn't have told the woman to shut up, but he really was driven to that point, and I felt bad for him. So.........I said to the woman "Well, to tell you the truth, I was just about to tell you to shut up as well. After all, I don't need this stress and neither do the clerks or the rest of the customers." I saw a look of relief and appreciation come over the faces of both postal clerks, but especially the male clerk. I continued in an effort to lighten up the atmosphere, "Everyone should just relax, I don't want to see anyone going postal" The other customers and the clerks all laughed. The woman seemed subdued since she realized that she was out numbered and had no support for her bad behavior.

One more unrelated comment. I love Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York City. Heard him speaking on C-Span yesterday. A very brilliant and charming man. Terrific orator. Really progressive thinker. I think my new obsession is going to be C-Span.

oh, so sorry, richie!
on my way home from getting some new sandals I saw purple crocus in bloom. . .

I lived in Minneapolis for three years and on the vast plains of the middle west both in my youth and in South Dakota when I worked for Gateway 2000, Inc. I was so glad, glad, glad I had Oregon to go home to.

Hi, Merle

You and me simultaneously posted. How cool. You in Oregon and me in Florida. We always seem to experience this serendipity, don't we. Stay well, sister.

serendipity, being in the right place at the right time, is my life, oh Cosmic Cat! I want to personally thank you for giving that woman a wake up call!
As you know, I do customer service in the privacy of them, me and the recording they make of every call. Rarely do we get any sort of relief when a caller makes a mistake and forces the Customer Service Specialist to eat it as we get railed at and they go on and on about the lousy customer service they have/are receiving. I have found out that those who gripe are usually embarassed about their own shortcomings and just lay into those that can't fight back.

I figure I am just racking up brownie points by eating their karma. If I thought I was just getting flack for no reason, I couldn't continue.

hi, sis! we are still on the same wavelength!

More Dino-speak topic

Hello to all of you once again. It is nice to meet you Cosmic Cat. Yes, I am a lover of All things (well, most) Sartrean.
You outing at the post office was overly dramatic. But you diffused the bomb, how diplomatic of you.

Congrats to Nannarob on her 1000th post, and you did not take long. have you any ideas for your rank?

Sinsboldly, Jonk, and Oregonbecky are lucky to have met . I do not live close to others. This is how close to other Aspies my own age I may get. I am grateful, nonetheless.

Lots of boinking :bounce: here. I wish I could get a copy of that little jumping dragon. Very cute. Maybe I can cut and paste him/her.

All the gangs here and newbies to boot...yea, the little cafe that said "I think I can"

Good news everybody(ala the professor on Futurama)....Inventor sent me a hard copy of his book and it is so cool holding it in my hands.I think it is great and I really hope he finds a publisher soon. There are a lot of "aspie traits" mentioned in his female charactors and they are seen as postives(eat that curebies).

Well it needs some tweaking, but I finally listed a few items in my "store"...it's scary but exciting. The worst part is the pricing and shipping costs...seem steep but I hand stitch the leather and it takes me about 10 hours to finish each piece...guess I need to learn to sew on a machine.

Any constructive cricism is welcome......http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5412685
