Oh, exactly. The term "gross" comes to mind.

Was she raised as a Christian Scientist?...this sounds very familiar.As an added "injustice" my parents paid for my psyciatric stay,after a suicide attempt at 16,with my inheritence money from my grandmother because they didnt believe in medical insurence....took awhile to get over that.

Thanks Gromit. If I feel the blues coming on, I will start constricting!

If things get really bad, I will have to go to London for a demonic extraction from Lau.

My computer had a breakdown,ust needed some rest and appears to be working again...I am relating more and more to my computer lately.

Lauri,sorry I missed your birthday...hope it was a good one.
I was sorry to hear about your son but am optimistic that future treatments can be found through more stem cell and genetic research.As society becomes more aware of the postives of Aspergers ingenuity(dont forget,it is a very new DX),perhaps some inovative adults and current children will be utilized more appropriately in the science and medical fields,(as it has been in the tech fields).Some have been there all along but I am sure many more have been shut out due to the social expectations and other trait related "blocks".I am convinced that we are an under utilized human resource that will eventually be tapped.

CC......Yes,I do think there is some spiritual/cosmic connection between my mother and I.I was the 3rd generation of 6 year old adopted females in our family.I dont know how my grandmother was with her family but my mother chose to become everything my grandmother said she should be(followed the rules)out of gratitude for being taken out of her childhood of hunger and alcoholic mother...I just didnt know how to be any one but me and hoped she would eventually like me.I think we are in each others lives for a some karmic reason(and I hope we both have learned what we need to,so we dont have to repeat the horrid experience).She does not like me and may even hate me but I think she also loves me in some very weird way.Mostly I just confuse the hell out of her...isn't that what kids are for?I Know we will never be "good friends" but she is more tolerant now then when I was a kid....I think she has grown up a lot(lol)

Not anywhere even remotely close. I grow my own flowers, and the cupboard is full of food.

Her mother was raised Southern Baptist, actually, and changed over to Pentecostal as an adult. When I met H, the church they were attending had aspirations to be a megachurch. H was involved in the video productions of the sermons, and since the rest of the A/V crew were guys, that meant constant whispers amongst the congregation as to the naughty things that must be going on up in the booth. (I attended a number of their recording sessions- er, I mean services, and can attest that what with switching camera angles and balancing the sound on the choir and whatnot, there was no time for illicit shenanigans!) Her mother later left that church when it became plain even to her that the pastor was choosing his sermons based on what his parishioners had been saying to him in confidence.

Hi all,

I feel like I'm butting in, but I am over 40 and just made my 70th post on WP because I am obsessed with this place and probably need an intervention . . . . Save me from myself!

Have a couple of questions because I'm creaky and feeling out of it. Can anyone explain the term Dino-aspie? Does it have something to do with Dino-saur? And I'm still not sure what LOL means - Lots-o-luck? Lost our lunch? Am not too good with acronyms. And I never know if AS means Asperger's Syndrome or Autistic Spectrum. Just need a little clarification.

LOL = Laughing Out Loud
AS = usually, Asperger's Syndrome
ASD = usually, Autistic Spectrum Disorder(s)
Dino-Aspie - we ancients who predate the diagnosis. We're generally an easier bunch to get along with than the kids who have been diagnosed in the past few years, probably because we're used to trying to get by in a world where we weren't autistic, just weird. :)

If you want an intervention to keep you away from WP (WrongPlanet), you may have come to the wrong place... :jester:

YowlingCat coined the term in her second post on WP. She then went on to found the Cafe, which was originally in this forum.

Due to some shuffling about, that thread went walkabout, and I essentially reopened it as this thread.

But is there something I could get you to show you that you are very special?

Not to distract you from the mailman, though.

Lurking and laughing at the humour of this place. Chuck is sooo funny but so is everyone else.

This is a dangerous place for addiction, Zonder, and if you keep feeding your addiction here you.will.not.be.able.to leave.EVER!
