Hello everyone, i signed up yesterday, and thought i should introduce myself to anyone who happens to care who i am.

My name is Thomas, I am 16, and live in Melbourne, Australia. I was apparently diagnosed with AS when i was very young, before i can remember. I was not told until a few years ago, and it was not until just recently that I discovered just what AS is, and how much it has affected my life so far. After reading posts from some of the people here, i feel i am actually quite lucky in that my social skills aren't that bad. I am very skilled in maths and IT, and spend a lot of my time programming computer software/games.

Nice to meet you. What kind of things lead to you to believe you have Aspergers? Do you think you have always been treated fairly in your life?

I pretty much have every symptom of AS (apart from the hating change thing, i love change) but each only mildly, which is why, for most of my life i, and just about everyone i met, never really thought it was anything more just just me being a little weird. As for the being treated fairly thing, its been a bit on and off, sometimes ive managed to make a few friends who like the fact that im so weird, but at others, ive been picked on by peers for anything and everything. and there also the fact that ive only ever had a single girlfriend, and that didn't last very long when she realised how detached i can get from other people, friendship i can do, love/romance i cant. but thats probably not being treated unfairly, just unlucky for me.

And thank you everyone else for your replies, its nice to feel welcomed

Funny, I was thinking about that tonight, wondering what's "wrong" with me, since I am not fitting the stereotype either! I enjoy change. It's one of the things I liked about my job... until I started having, like, :shaking2: seventeen deadlines :compress: all at once :help: , and :hail: eight different types of tasks, and over 40 customers I haven't replied to yet, and meltdowns :wall: and :bounce: ADHD and... :lmao:
