Hi there.

Fist of all thanks for all the posts. I have a great time reading posts on these fora and have a great time recognizing aspects. In a way.. finally normal people.. (no pun intended)

As you already figured I am new here. Currently undergoing tests whether I have some form of autism or not. Finally after more than half a lifetime of feeling 'different' and regarded as 'different'.

Anyway this is not the point. I am here to say hello. Here goes:

Hello, my nick name is Halewijn. I am almost 38 years old and English (or American for that matter) is not my native language.

I am currently working as a technical consultant for a larger company currently maintaining a web server and all that goes with it. It includes talking to all the Telecom providers in a smaller country (less than 17 million inhabitants, with no cities larger than one million inhabitants)

No GF/wive, no pets. A few friends (people i think i can trust).

Not sure what to say next.

ah...

the reasons for these tests are: feeling disconnected with my feelings. not being able to put myself in someone else's shoes even when being emphatic. taking critics way too personal (as in being attacked). socially inept or clumsy. not happy in a crowd. excessive need to be not part of a group. not knowing what i want since there are so many other things interesting as well. further more I am a scatterbrain that really goes everywhere.

I was feeling 'different' as long as i care to remember. But now I've hit my ceiling and want to find a way to get more out of my life. Need help and so far it seems i think i found some. A few more conversations and then hopefully a diagnosis (either way).

and in response to the 'you might be an aspie if you...'

.. you might be one if you can validate every answer in a multiple choice test as an answer just by reading into the question too much.

.. you cannot fill in forms, because you tend to answer with other responses than the choice of responses given. (driving me nuts to the point i really want to tear up these forms)

.. you really hate change even when you are intrigued with everything new.

To finish: hopefully i did not manage to tick someone off with a false remark...

Halewijn.

Dutch, then? Welcome to WP. It really sounds like you fit in well here already!

Your writing style makes it seem like you can type very fast. I'd guess in the 90wpm+ range or so? Probably even faster in your native language.. :)

Thanks for the welcome!! !

And indeed that is the little country I live in! (well, there were enough hints to narrow that down plus one extra)

Honestly, I do not type any faster in my native language. Personally using English for almost everything. It is easier since the translations of (computer-)tech stuff in my native language seem awkward and missing the point.

Will post the results and what the nest steps are. (of the tests).

Did enjoy watching House MD. At that time i really thought that social pleasantries were just a waste of time.

Grt,
Halewijn

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Autism Speaks will NEVER speak for me
