When my mom was in high school, her group of friends all had "Tribal Names." For example, my mom (who, like me, always has to pee) was "Fountain of Running Water. My dad (who had chronic gas) was "Air of Morning Mist." A friend of theirs who had a Ford Cougar that constantly broke down was "Keeper of Dying Cougar."

So what would my tribal name be? Post here if you have one for me or if you want to be named. You can't name yourself!

Serissa, your story about your mom reminds me of the book Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. Have you ever read it?

Hmmm... Keeper of Wise Cracks? Doer of Divine GRE Scores? Counselor of the Crazy People? Um... *fountain of ideas running dry*

I wouldn't mind a name. The less insulting the better. Preferably. :P

What about "Professor of Pendantry"? That seems to have a nice ring to it. ;)

No; I've heard of it though. Seems a little "chick book"-y for my tastes, btu I may be wrong.

One Who Speaks Much and Holds Peace Pipe

And Namiko:

Keeper of Ten Thousand Avatars

or, alternatively,

Sponge of Prized Lore

((Meaning you soak up lots of literary stuff if you like it.))

It may be. But at the time I read it, I could so identify with the mother, Vivi, who was going insane as a stay-at-home mother to 4 "stairstep" kids (you know, kids one year apart in age). Her husband (who was probably AS) was always off alone in his cabin in the woods hunting.

One morning, after being up all night with four vomiting kids, she called the babysitter and took off, wearing only her fur coat, headed for anywhere far away. She hocked the ring her father had bought her when she turned 16 and holed up for a couple days in a hotel, drinking champagne and eating chocloates and just revelling in being truly alone and free.

Suffice to say that there was a point when my kids were very little that I could totally relate. In fact, I credit this passage of this book with helping me get through that time. Just knowing that the author must have understood me exactly, to be able to write that chapter.

This could be fun:

For Sacrastic Name (inspired by his avatar - which is very fitting, as the coyote is a jokester or trickster in Indian lore - as well as his own words and/or personality test results):

"Coyote Who Apathy Defines"

or

"Coyote Who Posts Much, Works Little"

Grayson (inspired by Sophist's observation that you seem calm, at least in writing)"

"Soft Voice, Many, Many Words"

I'll have to ponder names for you others. I like Drumming Fingers though.

Some other appropriate tribal names for Aspies:

"Voice Like the Horizon" (i.e., flat)

"Racing Thoughts, Standing Lips"

"Howling Eardrums"

"Too Much Information"

"Crazy Map Reader"

"Hear Joke Now, Laughs Tomorrow"

"Shaking Deer Under Flourescent Light"

oh, i can just imagine myself, on the beach, with cocktails, and nice clothes, and cigarettes and feisty, funny, intelligent women...

AND of course, she's called "Vivi", although i read the book long before someone gave me that nickname. part of the reason i like it, though. :D

You can give me another name - I have one from childhood given by my cousin (palefeet).

suggestion for you: finger drummer.
