I'm new user. Over Christmas my parrents talked to a dr. friend who thinks that I might have Asperger's. Havn't been diagnosed yet though. I currenlty have dyslexia (auditory processing) and am wondering if it's common for dyslexia and Asperger's to be common in the same person.

Also another question. My parrents dr. friend has a son who has asperger's really bad (very socially shy). They said that it's harder to get a job which includes affordable health benefits for employees diagnosed with Asperger's. Is this true?

Also I've done research (googling) on dyslexia and have many common symptons with it. Luckily my dyslexia hasn't been too much of a struggle with my life after I learned about it in junior high school. Since then I've learned to cope with different learning techniques. Regarding Asperger's I share similiar symptons but not nearly all of them. I'm not often socially shy but only open to certain people. Not quite sure I have it or not. Is there an online test I can take for diagnosing asperger's? Also I've read about many famous dyslexic's (many which I admire); are there alot of famous asperger'ers (sp?) as well?

There are a lot of famous people with Asperger's. A lot. It would take too long to list all of them. You've probably heard of most of them.

Oh, btw, welcome! :D

I've got a pretty extensive mental health history - so I'm not sure if the AS itself caused me the problems - but I was jobless for about 6 months a few years ago and when I was trying to get individual health insurance they about laughed in my face . . .
I work for a city now, though, and they never said a word about it - just let me sign up for health insurance the first day - I think big companies can absorb the cost of people with disablities/diseases fairly well . . .
