Hi everyone,

I've been lurking here for a few months now, and finally decided to join. I'm 32 years old, and live in Connecticut. I first heard about Asperger's through a newspaper article 2 years ago and realized that I likely have it. Although I don't have a formal diagnosis, I am currently seeing a psychologist for my problems with anxiety, and he's someone who knows a good deal about Asperger's as well.

I'm here because I want to meet other people who've dealt with similar issues, which is hard to do in real life. As is typical for people like us, I've never had much of a social life, although things are slowly beginning to improve in that area. I recently found an Autism support group nearby, and as an offshoot project, they run a weekly game night for people with Asperger's. It's been really good for me, but I always feel like I want more.

I was also curious if there were any other members here from Connecticut. I don't tend to find many locals online.

That's all for now. Maybe I'll talk to some of you soon.

Game night? Man, I want more of that! Too bad I'm not headed to CT any time soon - love to join a group like yours.

Do you get depressed along with your anxiety? That's the thing I'm trying to cope with now, and I think the best remedy is social stimulation. Without it, my depression seems to take hold and I think I regress a little too.

Welcome, and I hope to hear more from you.

Your Kindred Zed

Yeah, the games night is pretty cool. Alas, it's only scheduled to run for a few months at the moment. So I'm enjoying it while I can. It's one of the few environments where I can easily "come out of my shell," as they say.

As for the anxiety, I don't get seriously depressed from it, though once in a while I'll have a few hours or so where I feel that way temporarily. I'm currently trying medication for that but it's not working. My goal is to make more progress on that throughout this year.
