Hi - my name is Louis
I'm not sure if I have Asperger's or not - I've never been diagnosed as such,
just always been a problem to my teachers, employers, family, etc. -
( a problem to THEM, that is - not to myself - at present, I am 72 years old
and I have always felt 100% content with myself ).
When I first read about Asperger's Syndrome, I thought " the damn shrinks
have finally invented a way to explain away LONERS like me " - shrinks and
psychologists hate loners because we don't fit into any neat slots.
But the more I read, the more convinced I am that they are really onto
something - I have the STRENGTHS like the "one-track mind" and the
visual memory .......and the weaknesses like the inabilty to "read" other
people or even THINK about other people sometimes.
One of my "blank spots" is religeous belief - I have no understanding of what
it is or why it still exists in modern civilization. I have seen no mention of that
blank spot in any of the books I've read so far, but I would like to check into
it . Maybe somebody else has noticed something.

Hi -
Just a note from Louis to thank you for moving this post to its
proper place. My mistake - I'm new to this.
By the way - is there a glossary of terms available to spell out
things like "NT" and "ADD". etc. ????

No there isn't. We really need one too.
This thread might help for now though
http://www.wrongplanet.net/asperger.htm ... ht=#183320

I haven't heard of blind spots but that doesn't mean anything! I'm don't have Aspergers. I'm here because my son has PDD-NOS which is similar to Aspergers. I'm not NT though...I have a learning disability. The only reason I bring all this up is because I don't remember my childhood either. Perhaps it is more common in people with other nuerological differences too.

Anyway, welcome.

Hi Louis,

glad to have you here. Before you showed up I thought I was the oldest geezer on the site (48).

I have Asperger's (AS) as yet undiagnosed but I should be asessed soon. My five year old son is diagnosed with AS, his twin sister is Neurotypical (NT) ie 'normal.'

Some of the terms are still unknown to me. I have picked most of them up since my sons diagnosis, now I seem to live in an AS world, not least because I have become slightly obsessed with posting on this website.

I have posted on your 'belief' thread. As you look around the site you will obviously see that having AS doesn't make you 'belief blind.'
