okay everyone put down their shot guns and pitchforks or phasers or whatever maniacal instrument of doom that you have pointed at my inferior brained head! I am joking :)
I love the crap out of this site! I found it for my Husband who has High Functioning Asperger's but didn't really look at it until now because I wanted him to have the chance to digest it some first but I love reading the posts. It just feels soooo familiar. :) Just the way some of the posters "talk" on here just make me feel right at home with my hubby! :)
I would also like to note that this site made me feel embarassed for being so... ick... normal :) by having me check that I am infact of the lower order and am just plain neurotypical. But I made myself feel better by remembering there is hope for me yet... I may still be crazy ;).

It has been a long journey for my Husband. We have three children and have been married for 8 and half years now. I got to see my first meltdown on our wedding day :). For those of you married, you know what a wedding can do to your stress level. We didn't know about the Asperger's until we had our first son, Isaac. Isaac is Severely Autistic, Non-Verbal, MR, etc etc etc... we just say he has alphabet soup for a label. That was when we had an idea about a direction to go for Mark. This past September we finally got the formal diagnosis and Mark now has vindication for everything that has been what he thought was so wrong about him his whole life. He also can KNOW now that he isn't wrong or broken, he just is written in a different language than what typical people are trying to read him in ;). In September we also received a diagnosis of MidRange Autism for our second son. And then we have a NT 2 year old who is going to be our problem child I am sure. Mark, Isaac, and Tristan are my A-Team and they are awesome :). I get to see a full range of the spectrum on a daily basis so its been very educational ;).

But I do not want to blather on about my boring normalacy I just wanted to say hi to everyone... shout out to my peeps, lurking NTs... and BOO! to anyone worrying about a NT conspiracy, MUHAHAHA! :). I also wanted to thank Alex and all the administrators for putting this site forward... not just for the Autie/Aspie population but for us NTs who don't have a site to go to where its ok to not want to "cure" our family of who they are! :)

Liz :D

Welcome to Wrong Planet! And, you might want to not mention "real" names on here, just for the privacy of us all. I got scolded for this once, so just giving you a heads up! 8) And, I commend you for seeking us out. It shows that you have a healthy attitude about autism, and that's a huge step in the right direction. Again, Welcome!

Welcome DizzyLizzie,
You are a balanced one, and clearly a big hearted person. Your family are richer for having an NT who is not afraid of differences. Cheers :)

I'm glad to have you here. Don't worry about the little NT thingie. People with autism accept you for who you are. It takes both neurological types to keep this world going.

Hey, lovely to meet you! My second husband was NT, and he was wonderful. (Sadly I'm widowed, I'm just sharing to let you know that I know from personal experience that NTs and Auties can get on just fine.)

Welcome to WP Liz! :D I've found this to a very warm and welcoming community for NTs. You may want to check out the Parents Discussion, there's a lot of useful information there from parents of Aspies.
