Hello. I'm new here so I thought I'd do what everyone else seems to have done and introduce myself.

I'm not actually autistic. My 10 year old brother is. I know this forum is mainly for people who actually have autism or aspergers or ADHD etc but I thought both me and my brother could benefit from me signing up. He doesn't actually know that he has autism. He is high functioning (is that the phrase?) but still has some major difficulties. My parents don't really know how to tell him and are waiting for the right moment. He knows he is different but he doesn't know why - he hasn't ever asked us about it but my parents feel that they should probably tell him soon. He's going up to Secondary school next September and we have applied for him to get a place in my school's autism base - we find out if he has got in this December. This would be perfect for him as they really focus on integration with the rest of the school which is what he really needs.

Now for some things about me: I'm 14, we live in England, I'm really interested in English politics and 20th century history. Even though I'm not autistic, I have loads of obsessions. When I like something, I find out everything about it. At the moment my main obsessions are: House (the American medical drama with Hugh Laurie), Billy Elliot the Musical (currently open in London, on Broadway and soon is opening in Chicago) and politics.

My brother's obsessions are computers and Nintendo (mainly Mario) and the Beano comics.

Right I have gone on for ages now!! I look forward to speaking to you all!! :D

Hiya, and welcome in!
There is a forum for the youngest members here "Kids crater"

link---> http://www.wrongplanet.net/forum15.html

There you hopefully can find some useful and interesting information. Maybe to meet other siblings of your age where a brother or sister have autism and sharing experiences
There is place for all of us here!

Hi Meg, if there's anything I can about you so far, is that you seem so supportive of your little brother! That is so important for a person with autism to feel loved, because often times it can be a little lonely. And feel free to ask me anything. :)
