What is your first name? Elizabeth
Age: 27
Location: New Jersey Shore

Hobbies and Interests: Books mostly, I enjoy fantasy, science fiction and mystery the most. I play various MMOs and enjoy them. My husband and I have four cats and a dog, who all have interesting histories. I love cats a lot. If I had the time, I would like to volunteer at the local no-kill shelter. I also enjoy movies, comedy primarily, although I love a good action film.

Why are you here? Multiple reasons: first, I was in a bit of denial about my Asperger's for a bit. I was trying to pretend I was not struggling, but lately I have gotten severely overwhelmed. My husband has been pushing me to reach out and get some help coping/understanding/venting whatever. Second, I've been casually searching for an online way to connect with other Aspies since I read Lianne Holiday Willey's Pretending to be Normal, which struck a cord with me.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): November of 2002, right before I turned 21.

Favorite subjects: I'm currently an English major working on my first bachelor's. So English, in any of it's forms. I enjoy reading the most, although editing is a close second.

Year/Grade: Senior in college

Favorite music: I generally prefer things I can sing along to; although much of my music comes from my husband's preferences, I do not enjoy things that involve lots of heavy screaming. This week I'm enjoying Katy Perry, Pink, All American Rejects, AFI, Something Corporate and Ani Difranco.

Books: I'm just going to list a few favorite authors or I'll be here all day! Neil Gaiman, Francesca Lia Block, Piers Anthony, Curtis Sittenfield, Rachel Caine, Richelle Mead, Laurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, Patricia Wrede among many many others.

TV shows/Movies: Buffy and Angel, way back when, Firefly, Burn Notice, Top Chef (my husband is a chef), CSI:NY, American Justice, Criminal Minds is my current obsession.

Instrument: Nope, I suspect I am tone deaf.

Do you like sports? Not really.

Family: My husband and I live with his grandfather who is 84, which is interesting to say the least ^_^. His family is all local and mostly very nice. Some of my family lives far away, but the ones who live close are not a part of my life.

Clothing: Jeans and a soft tee-shirt? I like soft things.

How did you find this website? I actually found a link to this site from Wikipedia, which made me giggle. All those years of casual searches and Wikipedia leads me here. Sigh.

Job: Still in college, hoping to go on to graduate school after this year.

Plans for the future? Grad school, maybe some kids.

Any comments? I'm not real sure where to begin here, there's a ton of forums and posts. Any advice that could steer me in the right direction would be great!
