Hi. My name's Kevin. By some odd coincidence I wound up finally looking up Asperger's Syndrome to find a pretty good description of myself.

Since high school I've been getting treatment for things ranging from bipolar disorder (rather big misdiagnosis) to anxiety disorders and depression, but no amount of medication alone ever has seemed to help as much as I was led to believe it could. Things make a bit more sense now, but I'm trying to come to terms with it currently. I want to get a diagnosis, though I'm not sure what great good that may do me. I think I'm just used to people making autism and aspergers out to be so negative so I'm trying to get rid of all the.. misinformation so I might feel better about it.

Talking to people here seemed more comforting at the moment than talking to anyone I know, currently. I always hate the way my family reacts to most anything I decide to reveal to them.

i was recently diagnosed with AS ...since diagnosis i have began to research AS, the more i read the more having AS explains who i am, how i interact with others, and how others react to, interact with, and why they may may tend to avoid me.

certainty in everything, for me, is everything - having been diagnosed places a lot of puzzle pieces and gives me something to work with. maybe it will do the same for you.

i have found at WP unique and interesting individuals that i also happen to share some distinct similarities with. it is a good thing to know that you are not alone and that such a community of people exists.

I relate fully to your thoughts and experiences. I too was diagnosed bipolar; and that never sat comfortable with me; nor did any of the medicaton work!

Unfortunately, my desire for answers didnt really get in to gear until after I divorced in 2003/5. I was 37 when I began to consider the possibility of Aspergers (5 years ago)

Ive mentioned my thoughts to a few members of my family and they seem really supportive of my thoughts and ideas.

I think getting diagnosed is good.

I always thought of Autism and Asperger's as interesting and kind of cool, because many aspies are intelligent or highly intelligent, and many ASD people have great knowledge on their special interests and many have talents
