I'm a 20 year old male. I suspect myself to be autistic...probably having Asperger's. I've taken a bunch of online tests and they all give strong indications of autism, of course I'm not calling this a positive diagnosis.

I'll give some a little background to my suspicions:

- I've been told that at age 3, I could name every car I seen on the road, and every song I heard on the radio.
- By age 4 I taught myself to write in hieroglyphics.
- From my memory I know that I used to be obsessed with collecting things (including toe nail clippings at the age of 4), an obsession which continues to this day as bibliophilia.
- I never really played social games, rather I had the odd habit of playing by myself in vivid imagined worlds in the woods, quite actively participating as if I were there, up until the age of 13 or 14.
- Ever since the second or third grade I've known that I'm a bit different. During high school this difference culminated as downright alienation from my peers, with a lot of humiliating social faux pas mixed in.
- I'm fascinated by mechanics, processes and sequences. I love grammar. I love to fix electronics. When I was 14 I fixed a computer tower by toying with it.
- I have pretty narrow interests. When I was 8 or 9 my big interest was the Civil War. I knew all of the battles, the generals involved and the outcomes. I idolized Ulysses S. Grant...though today I realize he probably just won his battles because he had overwhelming numerical advantages.
- I couldn't pick up on social cues to save my life as a kid. Within the last year, I've been getting a little better at socializing, even though having a social life isn't important to me. I'd like to be better at it, so I wouldn't have to feel so inept or nervous in simple interactions.
- I have a keen interest in noises, the only way I can describe it is they are like flavors to me. That's why I listen to noise music and some other strange genres.
- I'm very in tune with my senses...I can hear things most people can't, notice details most people don't, am bothered by little things such as a crease in my sock or the tag of my shirt. I'm not too good at picking apart someone's voice from background noise. But I am good at picking apart background noise from someone's voice. :D

I love factual information. Some of my favorite topics include philosophy (I'm into materialism/determinism), the brain's individual structures & functions, evolution, molecular biology, and physics. I take science very seriously. When I'm watching someone do something, I visualize what areas of the brain they are using to perform the task. I also enjoy politics and history. This forum is pretty awesome from what I've seen so you can expect to see me around!

Welcome lovely. Have you ever considered seeking a formal diagnosis?
