Anyone else have an up/down rule? For example, not a fan of cats because one moment their paws are on the floor and next their paws are on the counter or, heaven for-fend, the dining table. I don't care how clean they are - that's a direct violation of my up/down rule. Happy Holidays for those of you, like me, absolutely dread this time of year. The more family and co-workers I can avoid forms my Happy Holidays Gaussian.

Man Vector... hopefully no one ever takes a swab of your skin, inside or out... and puts it under a microscope for you.... you'd probably freak out! We are all crawling with living things... all over us, inside and out. Heck, we're practically an ecosystem unto ourselves.

If you knew how truly "dirty" and "icky" you really were... you wouldn't really care about the cat's paws... cause your skin (and mine) is just as gross as anything that cat might have stepped on.

Obviously we're all crawling with germs and obviously you love cats. Thank you for pointing out how "dirty" and "icky" I am. It's everything I wanted when opening myself up for the first time to what I thought was a sympathetic forum. Nice work, good job, well done.

Using the word "you" was probably a mistake. It wasn't talking about just you. I was just trying to point out that our bodies are more unsanitary than most other surfaces.

Yes, this is true. I'm reminded of it every day when I wipe my autistic 13 year old's butt. Thank you for bringing my reality home. It's so nice to have a focus.

From your responses, it seems as though you are taking everything so far very personally. You should not do that on the internet. If you do, then the internet will bring you nothing but pain and misery. From reading these forums for the last couple of days before deciding to post myself, the Wrong Planet forum is actually one of the NICEST forums out there.

I've been to places on the net that are not NEARLY this nice. So just as a warning... when online, take everything with a grain of salt, and try not to take things personally.

I'm not sure if this picture will be allowed on these forums due to language, but it's the single simplest BEST explanation for what I'm trying to say here, censored for the forums:

First off, welcome to WP.

Second, this is a support site. However, that does not translate to being a sympathetic site; if you wish to have a respite free of negative responses, I suggest heading to The Haven subforum as it is designed for that purpose.

Third... I do not see any reason for the hostility being exhibited; the other member related something that they considered relevant, and acknowledged that it was not worded well. Please take a minute and remember that a forum such as this works when we support each other.

i'm a cat person and i can totally relate. they step on their poop and then want to jump in your lap! great.... now i'm gonna be thinking about that.

thanks a lot, meanlady!

haha just kidding. i can understand why it would bother you. i think philotix was just trying to express perspective. this being a support site for individuals on the autism spectrum and their friends/family, it's not uncommon for our intentions to be misunderstood. he obviously wasn't trying to say "you're wrong." but this is likely only obvious to me because of my affinity with text based communications online.

that, and the fact that i can relate to the whole "spewing relevant information that my audience feels is offensively irrelevant" thing. it's a pretty common occurrence with those of us on the spectrum. sometimes it makes us feel as if we were born on the wrongplanet.

philotix: exactly. :)

but it definitely brings into focus the fact that this is a rarity.

that said, most people don't find the invisibly tiny organisms that permeate our reality quite as disgusting as knowing that someone just stepped in their own poop and then jumped on your lap/table.

welcome home. :)

I found this on WP.

Quote:
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.

From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.

Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:

E. A. Poe

Welcome home, philotix, welcome home, waltur
