Five years I've been here.

Alone.

Gambling myself to oblivion.

Watching my life fade away.

Watching it slowly end...

You get busy livin' or dying... oh, I've been busy.

Go into work, work hard, make money, blow every last penny. Over. And Over.

That person at work, Who is he? I don't feel like I'm inside my own body.

The pain is so strong you go so deep down you come out on the otherside.

So alone in this city. For so long. It will never change.

This is why I want to get the hell out of this town. You've got to be superman to suppress the urge to not just drop a buck, then another, then another.

Welcome to WrongPlanet. :)

I have a gambling problem, as well. I have to make an effort to stay away from all casinos and bingo halls.

Here, you caint even get petrol without running into a slot machine. About the only place you don't see them is places where kids hang out, and even then there's something nearby. It's horrid for any sort of addict, because the root cause behind one addiction usually makes you more susceptible to others.

Yes, you are surrounded by triggers, that's got to make it so much more difficult. Is there a Gambler's Anonymous chapter there? I saw a program on TV about this and it was interesting that they talked about how you can get addicted to anything that gives you that dopamine rush and that the act of gambling did that for many people. The segment featured Gladys Knight of Gladys Knight and the Pips who is a recovering gambling addict. I know a recovering gambling addict who is a retired minister. The best thing you can do is put any pride issues you have about overcoming this on your own away and ask for professional help. I am a recovering alcoholic and the delusion that I could manage it on my own kept me drinking for too many years. Sometimes you have to get so down you just say , OK I give up-tell me what to do.

You live in Vegas?

The town giveth and taketh away. I have a great job IN a casino, I make great tips, but at the end of the day, I blow them all. It's a double-edged sword.

So hard to avoid the lure of gambling. You go again and again for that 'rush'. It's everywhere. And I am addicted to the feeling.

It's like telling a meth addict who works in a meth lab to stop.

I have neither a job,nor the money that comes with it to gamble away.

the current economic situation has Impacted the Sin City Hard.

oh yeah, whan a casino game promises 90% return, that mean you will only get 90 cents from each dollar you put in. The bright side is that eating at the casino buffets is very inexpensive.

Yep. Mum works as a cabbie here, you could try that. They are hiring if you are old enough(25). Tips and base pay, but still pretty decent. Also has the added benefit of not having to actually go inside the casinos.
