Found this website a while ago and have been lurking a bit but decided to finally register.

Anyway, I'll probably be around for a while. You can call me Tim.

hey Tim! Welcome to WP. Anonymity is a good thing - I don't use my real name either for the same reasons. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone. I must say this is a very fascinating forum. It's been a bit more eye-opening that I expected.

Welcome to WP. Very wise of you not to use your real name in this age where your whole life seems to be able to found on Google.

Just out of curiosity, and this may have been answered fifty times already...and this is the only "all about me thread" I have :D...

anyway, is there a good reason to get diagnosed at my age? I'm 39. I kind of feel like I have a good handle on who I am and what my basic strengths and weaknesses are. I will admit that it is interesting to see some similarities between my traits and others described here so that is pretty helpful.

But is there anything I would gain by it? Seeing as there is no "cure" and I'm not really looking for a cure or to be "fixed" I am wondering why I should. Other than being curious about it.

The only really good reason I can think of is one of my sons acts a lot like me when I was his age. He's six now. I'm hoping I can see a few things and try to head them off to make his life a little easier later but if some things are what they are, then he will be too, if that makes sense.

Anyway...any thoughts? :)

I'm a similar age to you (35) and I am strongly considering going to a pysch to see if I have Aspergers. Just got to get up the courage to ask my GP for a referral. The reason why I'm doing this is so I can better understand myself and get a grip on my anxiety and why I do the types of things I do.
