To “sgrannel” - avoiding strangers is good policy. The doctor meant places like where I intern, which would be a community action agency, so we tried it with our supervisor & the e.d. Next day at 5 o’clock, it’s “By the way, ...” About half my workweek got blown out. Well, we never seem to learn. Also, neuroleptics - you may want to avoid them. We have been force-fed gigagrams over the yrs & I’m suspicious that their mechanism of action would be to iron flat the surface of the cortex; i.e., one’s brain is reduced to baby food.
I agree, though I can't speak for everyone about not needing neuroleptics. I tried them briefly, and was told that I looked like I was acting better, but I didn't feel better, for example, being around people still made me tired and I still had meltdowns. I understand many of these drugs are supposed to treat the positive symptoms of psychosis, such as hearing voices, and I don't have those symptoms. It's meant to treat something I don't have.
