Greetings, fellow aspies and others in the spectrum.
I just joined this community, and wanted to introduce myself.
I'm approximately 26,4167 years old, male, and was just diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome last week, after much, much testing and evaluation. I'm married, and my wife and I have a son together.
My occupation is IT -- more specifically, I'm a specialist in radiological IT systems (ironically enough, since I really hate watching x-ray images), and in software repackaging. I also work with software and web development, and sometimes system administration. In short, I'm kind of a handyman within the field of IT. What I love the most is *NIX systems administation, but I don't get to do that much professionally.
I'm currently self-employed, after having been out of the working life for a couple of years (primarily because of OCD, OCPD, chronic depression and panic disorder issues). Lucky for me, there are currently very few people in my region with my level of experience with radiological IT systems, therefore I rarely have a shortage of work, and my employers/customers are relatively tolerant and patient with me. I do, however, feel that I have a shortage of working capacity, and I really hope that'll pick up soon.
I underwent treatment for my OCD, depression, etc. for a long time, but nobody suspected that I was an aspie. Not even me. But I did indeed know about it, and earlier this year I requested that we eliminated it as a potential cause of my other issues. To my great surprise, even after involving a third-party to provide a "second opinion", I actually ended up officially getting the diagnosis Asperger's syndrome. I scored 40 on the AQ test, and 158 on the RDOS Aspie quiz (NT score below 50).
Well, I think I'll stop it here, before my post turns into a large novel that nobody in their right senses would ever care to read
