Hi,

I had a weird newbie experiance, came to wrong planet hoping to get away from all that kind of stuff.

Had someone start going off about religion and then ending up posting something about child abuse.

Then I had a private message in my in-box from someone called ksss22 who really like my profile (spammer by the looks of things)..

Is that just the general newbie spam/trolll christening that everyone gets and then the forum smooths out or is that going on all the time?

I didn't have that experience and haven't heard of anyone who has. I think it's safe to say your introduction to Wrong Planet was an unfortunate fluke. Anyway, welcome to Wrong Planet!

Wrong Planet would be the wrong place to "get away from religion" or to "get away from child abuse". This website is very much on topic for those topics, if they relate in some way to Autism. You can't expect everyone here to be Atheist or Agnostic. I think the member Tim_Tex (read his profile) is a Lutheran, and after reading I found a lot of views there that (surprisingly) were my own! Though I myself can relate to Atheists/Agnostics/Pantheists, some being online friends (even family who are non-believers), and spending well over half of my life as a Deist... as a late-blooming convert to Christianity, well, I learned one thing from the experience, to see all sides and you've got to step outside your own narrow world view and try to respect the beliefs of others except when people are outright espousing bigotry, then its time to take a stand for tolerance.
If you want an Anti-Religious forum, I think there are http://infidels.org/ or http://www.freeratio.org/ but this site is more suited for Autistic people, Aspergers people and other issues that are personal, including religion and child abuse.

I don't want to get away from religion or child abuse, what I wanted to get away from was people turning rational discussion to their own wried narrow minded agenda.

I don't suppose that the child 'abuse' video mentioned the catholic church?

Well, one teenager did go out of her way to let me know she didn't like me.

But that is so meaningless to me, I was just bemused.
