Hello all,
I am a 31 year old male who was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome last December after a year long process. I am married (but recently seperated) father of two children. I found this place to better understand myself and to hopefully see if true friendship is possible amongst my own kind.
My children have High functioning autism and this is what lead to my own diagnosis, their symptoms amazingly matched Daddies so-called unique personality and traits.
I could go on and on about me and my story but I will nervously test the water for now.
Thanks and nice to meet you all,

Aspergers / High Functioning Autism.. was there any special distinguishing factors on diagnosis between you and your children?

Thanks for the nice replies everyone,
well, the factors which matched me and the kids were a mutual need to influence or control the environment (noise levels, what dvds to watch etc etc), so-called strange behaviours, big imaginations, coordination issues and poor concentration.
Bare in mind that this is some of the things we have in common and not close to our complete list of symptoms. I actually have mild Aspergers with high level ADHD so I am a real joy to be around hehehe. The kids are deemed to be moderate high functioning autistic but are still young.
Thanks for the kindness and interest,
