Hi,

I'm 26 and doing well other than the fact that I've recently had to come to grips with being an aspie. I am not OD but this late in the game I don't see the point in confirming what I already know, for money I don't have. My husband was the first ones to suggest that my childhood behavior horror stories and current "oddness" and difficulty making meaningful relationships could be more than just quirky. Our friend's son was diagnosed which then led everyone to take a closer look at me...and the melt-downs, compulsiveness and disengagement from the "normal" world made it a very short leap. I am blessed to have a wonderful husband who has undying patience for my episodes. I'm here, I'm employed, I've got a driver's license, and I've at least got one long-term relationship going. A weird irony is that my mother now works with autistic children...lol guess I was good training for her. Feel free to ask me anything about anything.

I'm an extrovert so definitely "known by all" but if my 300 minute per month cell-phone bill is any sign of how many close friends I've got then my mother and my husband are it. Just moved to Alaska...the transition was difficult for me. Melt-down last week but starting to get things under control. Last week's melt-down was really the straw that broke the camel's back and I decided to look this forum up and finally start talking about it. (sigh) A hard pill to swallow. Nothing is better than trying to make friends in a new place and knowing that you are extremely ineffective in that arena.

Update:
I'm laughing at my own post...extrovert...ha. Let's clarify. I have a very busy internet life because I never have to talk to anyone directly. I don't do chat rooms but I love blogs and forums. I can do public speaking and talk to strangers but when it comes to making actual relationships with people or coming up with small talk that doesn't sound completely bizarre or out of place, I'm a complete failure. I talk to myself and the dog almost more than my husband.

You know you are an Aspie if...
1. You constantly tell yourself jokes that only you "get" and laugh out-loud at them at inappropriate times; i.e. a funeral.
2. Your logic is by NT standards completely illogical.
3. You are the King/Queen of "your" world and have no patience for treason. "OFF WITH THEIR HEAD!"
4. You failed your driving test and blamed it on the instructor, then fabricated an elaborate story about how the instructor was on meds or just crazy.

I'm one of the more "extroverted" Aspies I suppose, if you're going by Autistic standards. But by NT standards, I'm a hermit and a complete loner living on the outer edges (NT perception I presume) 'cos they don't know a thing about me or what I do in private.

Actually, I'm a law-abiding citizen and mind my own business and like love and peace in my life. Hope you enjoy your time on WP. I've spent years browsing the internet, and WP is by far is one of the friendliest forums I've yet been acquainted with.
