Hi,

I'm in a relationship with an AS guy. He thinks it's important for me to be more informed about Asperger's before we get really serious and I'd like to know more so I can be as supportive as possible.

Welcome.
AS is high funchioning autism. You will probably never understand it completly. Often us Aspies don't even
most aspies suffer from severe anxiety which often goes hand in hand with depression.
We are socially pathetic. Most are bad at relationships.
Sensual stimulation is also another problem we have. We have our senses such sight,hearing,smell,feeling. Well aspies tend to suffer from too much input.
Ie if I go a shopping center and it's moving really fast,noisy and lotsbof people moving. I will get really anxious and may need to retreat.
Best advice. Be honest, be direct/clear. if your not he will not understand and frusterates the crap out of you.

I strongly believe that if you want the best relationship with your AS partner, it's best to communicate in a direct, straightforward manner. And PLEASE don't play any mind games on him like other women, it's not nice and he'll suffer from it!

My son (Aspie - 2E child) is straight forward and extremely kind hearted. Though you will suffer some frustrations, you will know that they aren't malicious in nature. He is very rule oriented and loves fairness and justice. He won't cheat on you and, at least my son, is very affectionate. You won't be bored. Life with him shall be an adventure (good meaning). Although he won't show emotions so transparently as NTs, he feels them deeply and sincerely. Direct and pure - the best way I can describe the world of Aspies.
