Hi,

I am new to Wrong Planet. This is my 5th posting I think. Anyway, I am wondering if there are any meetup/support groups in Baltimore County area. I would like to find a group of women (ideally) with AS to talk with at least once a month.

I'm not sure if there are any support groups in the Baltimore area, but I've been trying to start a group in south-central PA. The tentative meeting place would be less than an hour north of Baltimore. You'd just take I-83 to York, PA and then get onto Route 30.

Just thought I'd share that, in case you are unable to find anything closer.

Welcome to WP, too, by the way!

Thanks. I did not realize PA was so close. There is a group in Washington, DC a little closer, but I was trying to avoid a long drive outside of the city. There must be women with AS in Baltimore. Anyone interested in starting a group in Baltimore County with me?

There's one at Towson University I haven't gone there yet so no idea whether it's good or not.
Their website is here: http://www.towson.edu/chp/caasd/http://www.towson.edu/chp/caasd/

Thanks everyone for the welcomes. Thanks Celoneth for the link to the Towson U group. The psychologist I saw sent me the same link. I called/emailed but no response yet.

I have really isolated myself for the past 3 years. Dealing only with people as required- roommates, workmates, and classmates. I am friendly and can do small talk but I have lost the drive to really socialize like I did before. I used to try much harder three years ago, but now I figure the result is the same whether I try or don't. I usually end up alone.

For those who have friends with AS, are they easier to relate to? I realize that not all people with AS will "click", the same with NTs but I'd at least like to find a group and try.

I visit the Baltimore area sometimes. However, I am not a female. I currently live in Western, MD. Hagerstown to be exact.
