Hello Everybody I am new

Hi everybody my name is Tom Thomson and I have high-functioning autism. I was diagnosed when I was 18 years old. I am 25 years old and I live in Loveland, Colorado.

Interests: I have been learning Chinese since November. Three times a week I log onto Skype and my private class room. My teacher is in Beijing. So I am really interested in just about anything if it is Chinese related. I have been going to a Chinese speaking church for about four months and I am loving it. I have finally found a social network of people that I actually feel comfortable with. They are so fascinated that I am interested in their language and culture. My parents and I are going to be in China from September 14-27 and I will meet my teacher in Beijing and my friend that is in Shanghai. I am so excited!! !

I am also interested in bird watching. I really like to know what animals I see when I am outdoors. I am also fascinated by Octopuses.

I also really like Classical Music. I like a subject that involves categories, lists, organization. hehe That is such an Aspie trait.

I am hoping to work at a library or a book store setting. When I am in town that is the first place I think of where to go. So I guess you can say I really like books.

i also love the chinese language - i often watch the news in chinese (have noooo idea what they are saying though). are you studying mandarin or cantonese?

i suspect that there are tons of other birdwatchers here on WP. personally, i love the corvids.

Hi Octoman. It is cool that you are interested in China. Everyone says that Chinese language is so difficult to learn because of the different intonations. I visited China last year it is an amazing place to visit. It is a whole different culture from the place where I live. I hope that you enjoy your visit to China. Here are some pics I took.

I am studying Mandarin Chinese.

Those are some really cool pictures Wedge. Mandarin Chinese is a difficult language to learn, but I love it. It takes a lot of self-discipline.
