Hi everyone,
I am 51 years young, recently graduated from a bachelor's program in Psychology, and am absolutely certain that I am an Aspie. After getting a job where there is complete and total chaos at all times and the schedule gets changed on me several times in the first few minutes of my day, I am miserable and searching for a job where I can be more comfortable. I am supposed to start a Master's program in December, but am now re-thinking what I want to major in. I took Psych because I have always wondered why people are so mean and treat me (others) so bad.
My husband suggested to me that I might have AS a few years ago when I was trying to understand why I was always treated so bad by other kids and why I have never had many friends. I have a tendency to blurt out the unadulterated truth at times, I also tend to be rude, I was adept at small appliance repair when I was 7 years old, etc...
Several people who claim to know a lot about AS have told me that they are sure that I don't have it. One of them said to me the other day "Your devotion to a schedule is very Asperger like." She is my supervisor, and claims to know a lot about AS.
A few days ago I was searching for jobs which are good for people who have AS and stumbled onto this site. The more I read the more I relate, and the more convinced I become that I am truly an aspie.
I look forward to reading more of the posts.
Jane
