Hi just wanted to introduce myself and my present dilemma!!
My 13 year old has encountered 6 years (on & off) of tests for behavior disorder.
He has been diagnosed as having language problems (we speak English at home, language here is Dutch [Flemish])
he got therapy from a language therapist, very successfully
Later he was diagnosed with O.D.D. and A.D.D.
we received therapy from a psychologist, it was successful for us as parents as it meant reinforcing rules and routines but it became increasingly aimed at us and less aimed at my child (maybe this is normal?) I wasn't comfortable with this and neither was my child. In the beginning I agreed to allow discussion between the school and Psychologist but when the school stopped communicating with us and only with the psychologist and the school didn't appear to be helping my child. I withdrew.
Recently this O.D.D. has been re-diagnosed as A.D.D + Asperser's syndrome.
I am learning about it now and everything I have read 'FITS' exactly to my child BUT I really don't know what to do next!! !

My child has had a tough time at school throughout his Primary years. He has just started High School and it has started really bad, he already has a 1 day suspension (in Time-out zone at school) he has a standard behavior contract which is too generalized that I don't think he will be able to comply. If he doesn't comply he will be expelled!
I did put on his forms that he has ADD and AS but I didn't follow it up further with the school.
My lack of understanding and the lack of support available (everything is complicated here) have grayed my judgment so that I applied a 'wait and see' tactic instead of early prevention! I just didn't think it would be BAD so QUICK! :(

Welcome. I'm sorry to hear about your dillemma, but it is not too clear to me. What is your son's behavior difficulty?
