I was just wondering because I was bullied a little by one girl at the start of the year but other than that, no one has ever really teased me for being "weird." If you have or are being teased for having asperger's or for being "weird", can you please relate some experiences if it's not too personal to ask. For example, people who have picked on you, what they said, what they did, why about you they teased, etc?

I want to learn more about the world of Asperger's. :)

When I was younger, people always called me 'weird' and asked me if I was an 'emo' because I acted strangely to them and didn't talk. Sometimes people call me 'weird' in High School, but that only happens occasionally.

yeah, I use to get called emo before I went on anti-depressants.

So how do you guys react to teasing, that's the other thing I am interested in knowing. I just stand there and don't know how to respond. I fond just give them an confused look and walk away or something.

Is this a usual reaction for Aspie teens or does everyone react differently?

I don't tell many people I have asperger's, but yes, I do get teased for being weird. I am frequently asked questions such as "How come you never talk' and 'you're so weird'. It's really hard sometimes, and I get accused for things that I can't really help, like in PE class when I get accused of 'not participating', when the accuser fails to take things into account like the fact that cannot accurately throw or catch a ball, do not know how to communicate with 'teammates' when they are 50 meters (45 feet, I think) away, and that in most cases, I have never heard of the sport being played (anyone herd of 'la cross'?), or have no idea how it is played, and no explanation was given prior to the commencement of the 6 week unit on that sport. This has also caused a lot of teasing, as well as the fact that i'm just different from most people my age/gender. In Primary school, people often told me that I should have been a girl. This made me very upset. I couldn't deal with these comments and ended up begging my parents to transfer me to another school (I eventually moved to the school around the corner from my old one). So, in an indirect way, I guess you could say I got teased at school for my aspieness.

Really, That sucks! Do you mind me asking how old you are, SaxNerd?
Some poeple can be real jerks sometimes. One girl who I use to be best friends with decided I wasn't cool enough to hang around with anymore. She's the one that started to bully me at the start of this year. She'd just call me a freak and a loser and give me dirty looks for no particular reason. I remember one time I was talking to my friend and we were mucking around and playing air instruments. She wasn't even involved in the conversation and she walked passed us, specifically to call me a freak. Not my friend, but just me. Needless to say, she's the biggest b***h I've ever met!

But hey, the way I see it; I'm interesting and cool and there is an actual reason why I am like that. She's a dull, b***h who is only like that because she;s not a nice person. So really, who is better off in the long run. That's the way I see it! :)

People always saw me as weird, but it was uncommon for them to tease me. Generally, they completely ignored me.

Yes, I was bullied pretty significantly in high school. People often called me a freak, and, like SaxNerd I was often asked things like "How come you never talk?" or "why do you act so weird?".

I only responded to bullying a couple of times. The first time a guy was squirting water in my face using a plastic bottle that had a hole punched in the top of the lid. I snapped and whacked him in the face with my (very heavy) maths book. He backed off after that. The second time I can't remember too well, but someone said something extremely nasty to me, and I kicked him in the leg a couple of times as hard as I could.

i was bullied my entire life, in pretty horrifying degrees. idk if anyone here has ever seen a movie where there's a kid surrounded on all sides by other kids, while they laugh and yell some ridiculous name at him and occasionally decide to beat the s**t out of him, but that was me, every day of my life. when i was a kid, i was just about as weird as you can get, and i was tortured relentlessly for it just about up until i got to high school. then i grew my hair out and lost the glasses, started wearing more normal clothes, started playing guitar, and suddenly people deemed me more socially acceptable. as i got older, that went away, but for a little while there people stopped f*****g with me. now i just take advantage of the fact that i look crazy and stand up for myself, which usually ends in the other person backing down. i'll never let another person bully me; that part of my life is over =)
