Hi. I'm new, and I joined for the sense of community with Aspies. While I've been diagnosed with Asperger's since infancy, I've realized that I have never knowingly met someone else with the condition. I guess you could say I'm here for research, because I am very interested in how Aspies, especially adult ones, live their lives.
My interest is heightened because I believe that I may be a bit lucky. I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was three, and with the help of two wonderful parents and the grace of God, I improved markedly. I'm seventeen now, and while I have some trouble creating new relationships, I keep old ones successfully. In fact, I often pass for normal.
Unfortunately, I seem to be some sort of exception. With no one else to compare to, I had this view that Asperger's can be outgrown and overcome with determination and practice. Yet the more I find out, the more this view is being shattered. And that's why I'm here: to find out how others live, and how they cope.
