Hi all!

I've been a member here for almost a year almost without making any posts. But still, this forum has helped me a lot. I'm pretty sure I'm an aspie (although I don't feel right to change my status to undiagnosed), and every time when I felt confused or frustrated about something, here was always a topic connected to that. About a year ago I fell into depression that I still have no skill in socializing and communication (I'm 22). For example, I have no idea how to actually have a normal conversation, when 2 more people are around. One person usually is fine, if you can find a topic of interest, but if someone else shows up, I usually just stop any kind of communication. And then I stumbled upon description about asperger's and could immediately relate to it. I don't feel a need for diagnosis, because just knowing about asperger's syndrome helped me a lot to cope with everything. After all I have good mathematics and logic skills, different look at such topics. I study mathematics and it's visible that things are easier for me to understand than my classmates, so everything's kind of fair.

Main reason I never post, I usually find it too hard to precisely express what's exactly on my mind. After writing and reading the post there are always parts that are written too vaguely or can be misunderstood, and then I feel the need to make them clearer, and then I kind of get too immersed about details that are not connected to the main topic, and finally I just give up on the topic. Because of the exact same reason, when as a child I tried writing a diary couple of times, I had to give up because I just never felt that I have fully described first day, mostly, because some of events were connected with past events, and that needed clarifying and started a chain that I couldn't finish.

Ok, more to the point about actually introducing myself. I'm a fan of table top RPG games, recently started participating in some over the message board, I think that actually helped me start posting here, as in fantasy environment flow was much more free. Also I like manga, anime and I watch a lot of movies and TV shows (mostly American or British). I recently started to try to learn japanese on my own (only because I would like to start reading manga and watching anime in original language)

I think I've written enough, hope it wasn't too much bother to read everything, sorry for mistakes, English is my second language, and I also don't want to reread it too much, as it would usually mean adding more information.

hello and welcome.
i would first like to say that "your not alone". i also came to this site for about a year, reading others posts (which helped immensely) yet couldnt bring up enough courage to post. i have enough problems communicating verbally but writing is many times worse (as you can probally see for yourself). and i also have the same difficulty speaking in a group. i think thats because (just as when writing something) you have the time to go over what you want to say and never think it will be good enough, or that people will not understand what your trying to say.
one tip i find helps in writing though, is to only look back at what you wrote when your done, and mainly only for spell check (although my spelling stinks no matter what i do). that way you don't worrry to much about the content and keep second guessing yourself. i dont know how many times i would want to post something only to erase it all because it wasnt perfect.
also i find after the first few posts its much easier. my first post was yesterday and now i cant stop. ;)
and as you can see i dont use many caps cause i find the less i try not to care too much about getting it perfect the easier it is to just let out whats on my mind.

by the way, your english seems to be much better than mine (and others on this bb) and its my only language.

Hi.

I was a "lurker" for about five years before I even made an account, so I can also say "you're not alone." :)

Glad you made this posting. Don't worry about how you "sound"--just write whatever feels right to you, as often as you like.

Welcome! :D

Hello and welcome to WrongPlanet :)

I can very much relate but you should see all the paragraphs I erase. I also feel the need to be as clear as possible and sometimes add too much explanations, but in my case sometimes I think oh well what's the use of saying all that and then I erase the whole thing lol.

Oh and congratulations on finding the courage to post!

Hey and welcome to WP posting that is, since you've been around enough time to not classify as a complete stranger to this place.

I hope you'll ignore your pedantic way of expressing yourself in writing and just write stuff around the threads that speak to you and even if it comes off as a bit cluttered we will still understand most of it. Or we'll ask for clarification. My brain works in such a way that I still understand what a person means in a text even if they are not the best wielders of the vocabulary or structure ( I myself write as I think and my writing can at times look like a post apocalyptic wasteland.).

+ I'm the same way. When I'm with a good friend I can talk about things that are in my interest or compromise and squeeze out a small amount of small talk. But as soon as more people join I go in to "shut the f**k up mode" and I leave the bla bla bla's to them. And only speak when I'm spoken to, answering questions and so forth.
But if I'm around good friends, even if there are 3-5 I can totally be myself and throw out and say the most f****d up things that come to mind, because I know I'm in a safe environment.

Again, welcome and enjoy the posting.
