Hi,

---------------------
Profile
Name: Levi
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Occupation: Full-time maths geek and biding time 'til I get my PhD in maths
Location: Cambridge, UK
Picture: http://www.wrongplanet.net/asperger.htm ... =187&pos=0
Interests: Maths, chemistry, pharmacology, programming, academia
---------------------

I came looking for AS forums to meet and converse with people who suffer from the same perks and problems associated with AS as I do in my day to day life.

It took me 18 years to realise how firmly placed I was on the autism spectrum. It wasn't until my friend said "You're so autistic!" to me that I even thought about it. I always thought my quirks, eccentricities and social problems were due to the fact of being +4 or 5 standard deviations along the bell curve. Discovering I had AS was a major relief; I now knew where to look for like-minded people to relate to!

More about me:
I'm open-minded and really easy going/non-judgmental. I identify as pansexual and a general deviant (ha!). My academic/intellectual interests are intense and diverse; if it's not pseudoscience, I'll probably take an interest and provide good conversation. I'm a rationalist/materialist and therefore a strong atheist. I consider myself a transhumanist. I regularly partake in auto-chemotherapy  for recreational and cognitive enhancing reasons (I'd love to chat with anyone with the vaguest interest in nootropics). I smoke and drink too much. I'm confident and never afraid to stick up for myself or the weak. I'm proud of my AS and wouldn't trade it for anything!

I'm available to talk on MSN or email correspondence; just PM me for my email. I'm interested in meeting fellow aspies in the East/South East of England.

- Levi

/\ From what I've learned so far, differential calculus and matrices.

I'm interested in learning about fractals, chaos theory and non-linear equations though. If you could recommend any books on that, I'd appreciate it!

(reads the wikipedia article on nootropics)
Interesting...any recommendations (preferably over-the-counter) for a programmer?

Anyway, pleased to meet you.

None are available over the counter in the US/UK.

To sell a drug over the counter, it must be approved by the FDA. To be approved by the FDA, a drug must be shown to cure/prevent a medical condition. Nootropics used for nootropic purposes aren't intended to to cure/prevent any medical condition, although many are used for those purposes (e.g. Parkinsons, Alzheimers, narcolepsy, depression).

As to what to recommend, depends what you want. If you want a creativity booster/memory enhancer, try piracetam (supplemented with a choline donor - the cheapest being lecithin). If you want a concentration booster, try l-deprenyl (AKA Selegiline).

Check out the nootropic forums on www.imminst.org. There's a plethora of information out there on nootropics.

Thanks for the warm welcome so far everyone!

**** Maybe I should have pointed out that nootropics aren't illegal per se but in a grey area. One could say, "they're not condoned by the law but not illegal." They aren't scheduled usually (due to having no abuse potential). They're available from a host of very professional sites (and also unscrupulous) such as www.uniquenutrition.net, a personal favourite.

No one in the US has ever prosecuted for ordering smart drugs as far as I am aware.
